How to kill shamblers in The Last of Us Part II

The shamblers are one of the brand new stages in the Cordyceps infection that destroyed The Last of Us Part II world. They make their initial appearance on Seattle Day One - The Tunnels. Here's how you can kill these sassy boys and continue with the story.

How to kill shamblers in The Last of Us Part II

Shamblers have evolved beyond the infected Cordycep line that we saw in the first The Last of Us. Their upper body has been completely surrounded by what looks like vile blisters. These guys are discharging an acid cloud around you which will reduce your health and make you unwilling to be around them. In fact, there isn't much of a reason to get close as you can't stealthily camouflage them to defeat them. If you're stuck in a room with a bunch of infected people, you might want to try removing others quietly before trying to pick up shamblers.

Any firearm (as well as the bow) can take out a shambler, but the way they move and the way their head is so close to being covered can make it difficult to remove them quickly and effectively. If you have travel mines, these are great for at least knocking down the health of the shambler. We recommend that you follow the blast with a quick shot from a rifle or pistol to complete it. While shotguns are very good at killing shamblers, you don't want to be anywhere near them because when they die they explode, releasing gas in their immediate area. If you don't have travel mines, molotovs are a good second choice.

Under no circumstances should you even attempt to confuse the shambler. If he catches you, he can hold you tight as the gas he emits slowly kills you. Do everything you can to make sure there is at least some distance between you and a shambler at all times.
