GIMP (Windows / macOS / Linux)

How to lose weight in photos

If you want lose weight in photos using free software, GIMP is a solution that you should seriously consider since it is a completely free and open source program available for both Windows and macOS and Linux.

To slim a subject portrayed in photos with GIMP, you must first download the program to your computer. Then connect to the official GIMP site and click on the button first Download xxxx, and then on the button Download GIMP xxxx directly (the orange button located on the right). So open the file you just downloaded on your PC and follow the wizard to install GIMP.

If you use a PC Windowsclick on your button Yes and then OKInstall e end. If you use a Macinstead, drag the GIMP icon into the folder Applications macOS, then right-click on it and select the item apri from the menu that appears to start the software (this is necessary only at the first start, to bypass macOS restrictions on apps from non-certified developers).

After starting GIMP on your computer, click on the entry Apri ... from the menu Fillet (top left) and select the photo showing the person you want to lose weight. Then click on the menu filters present in the editor, click on the item Distortion and then select the tool IWarping ... give the menu check if you press.

Next, check the item Move and move the cursor present in the GIMP control bars to change the radius of deformation of the effect and its degree of intensity. Then deform the photo by clicking on its preview points (on the left of the “IWarp” window) and holding down the left mouse button.

As you may have noticed, thanks to GIMP's “Move” tool, it's really easy to “shape” the photo to make it look the way you want. But another distortion tool that can come in handy for slimming your photos is Reduce, which you can activate by always selecting it from the “IWarp” window. Also in this, adjust the intensity of the effect using the slider in the adjustment bars and click on the point of the preview of the photo that you want to slim down until you reach the desired effect.

If you make a mistake, don't worry as you can undo the changes you've made using the tool Remove (to work on small portions of the image) or by clicking on the button Reset (to reset everything and do the job again). When you are finally happy with the result, click on the button OK and save your work by clicking on the item Save as ... from the menu Fillet.

Photoshop (Windows / macOS)

How to lose weight in photos

If you want to use a slightly more professional solution to lose weight in photos, you can't help but think about Photoshop, the famous photo editing software included in the Adobe Creative Cloud subscription, which starts at € 12,19 per month and which you can try for free for 7 days.

If you want to download the trial version of Photoshop on your computer, first connect to the Adobe website, click on the item Free trial version located at the top right and wait for the program download to start. If you use a PC Windows, then start the file Photoshop_Set-Up.exe and then click on Yes. If you have a Mac, double-click the file Photoshop_Installer.dmg and then run the executable Photoshop Installer.

At this point, you will be prompted to create your Adobe ID. Therefore, click on the button Subscribe located in the window that appeared, fill out the form that is proposed to you providing all your personal data and then click on the item Registration. Next, put the check mark next to the item I have read and accept the Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy (UPDATED)click on your bottone Continue, answer the questions of the "mini-questionnaire" that is proposed to you, click on the button again Continue and finally, click on the entry Start installing.

Now all you have to do is wait patiently for the Photoshop installation procedure to finish (I anticipate that the operation may take several minutes) and then use the powerful tools integrated into the program to slim down your photos, perhaps following the "tips" contained in the tutorials in which I have already dealt with the topic (such as the one in which I show how to slim with Photoshop and how to slim photos with Photoshop).

Photoshop Express Editor (Online)

How to lose weight in photos

Adobe, the software house that developed Photoshop, has also made available a sort of online version of the famous photo editing program that can be used for free from the browser: Photoshop Express Editor. At the time of writing, this online service allows you to act only on images in JPG format and moreover requires the use of the Adobe Flash Player plugin (if you don't know how to download Flash Player or how to activate it on your browser, read the guides that I have published on the subject). If you feel like using this online service, I'd say get to know it a little more closely.

To get started, click here to connect to the Adobe Photoshop Express Editor main page and then click the link Start the Editor. In the window that opens, click on the button Upload photo and then on the button Upload. Then select the photo you want to lose weight and, once uploaded, you can achieve the desired result using the tools included in Photoshop Express Editor, which are located on the left.

In this case you may find useful some tools grouped in the section Effects, as Distort which allows you to distort images and "fold" portions of them; extremely useful for slimming photos. After clicking on the "Distort" tool, click on one of the squares located at the top (the third and fourth could be particularly useful), move the mouse cursor over the photo and draw an ellipse inside it.

Then move the ellipse to the point of the image you want to slim down and adjust the intensity of the selected effect using the slider located next to the wording Amount. Obviously, the more you move the slider to the left, the more market the distortion effect will be: but try not to exaggerate too much so as not to make the “retouch” made to the photo too evident.

After obtaining the desired result and possibly using the other Photoshop Express Editor tools to make further corrections to the photo (you can get more information about this in the tutorial where I explain how to use Photoshop online), save your work by first clicking on the button Done and then Save to download the photo you just photoshopped.
