Europass CV with Word
If you intend to create a curriculum in Europass format, which is now the most commonly used in Europe, connected to the official website of the initiative, scroll down the table with the various models of curricula, get to the line relating to thecittàn and click on your voice Model.doc located next to the Word icon. In this way you will download the Word template directly to your PC to create a curriculum in Europass format.
If you also need the instructions to correctly fill out the curriculum, click on the item CV - instructions which is on the right and you will be able to download a PDF document containing the instructions to correctly fill out the curriculum. If the PDF is not downloaded directly but opens in the browser, right-click anywhere in the browser and select the item Save with name from the menu that appears. Alternatively, look for the icon floppy disk (which is usually found at the top) and click on the latter.
Once the download is complete, all you have to do is open the Europass CV template (ecv_template_it.doc) by double clicking on its icon and compiling it. To fill in the curriculum, all you have to do is select the indications for the compilation (eg. Replace with name o Replace with telephone number) and replace them with the relevant information.
The fields are not mandatory. If you decide to leave some of them blank, remember to delete the instructions for filling in it. The same goes for the indications in red (it is. what says All fields of the CV are optional. Remove empty fields), which must all be deleted at the end of the compilation.
To insert your photo, in the box at the top left, click on the latter, go to the tab Inserisci Word and click on the button Images (top left) to select a photo from your PC.
When you are satisfied with the result, save your resume by clicking on the button Fillet located at the top left, by selecting the item Save with name from the left sidebar and pressing the button Shop by Department. By expanding the drop-down menu Save eat you can choose from various output file formats, including the PDF.
Online Europass compilation
In addition to Word, the curriculum in Europass format is possible fill in directly online, where it is also easier to manage and can be exported to various file formats, including the DOCX of Word, the PDF el 'ODT of OpenOffice or LibreOffice (in this regard, I would like to point out that the offline resume template is also available in ODT format for OpenOffice and LibreOffice, not only in DOC format for Word).
Another important thing to underline is that by filling out the Europass curriculum online, you will have the possibility to compile, and then download offline, also three documents that are usually associated with this type of curriculum: the cover letter, European Skills Passport and Language passport. In short, if I were you, I would put Word aside and try to fill out the Europass curriculum directly online. On the other hand, it is free and does not require registration.
To fill in the Europass curriculum online, linked to this web page, click on the button Fill in related to the various fields of the curriculum and follow the instructions on the screen to enter all the information you want to insert in the document (e.g. in the field Personal information enter name, surname, residential address, telephone, electronic contact details and all other personal information which will then be reported in the curriculum).
When the compilation is complete, select the items related to Cover letter, European Skills Passport e Language passport and also fill in these documents (assuming you want to) following the same mechanism used for the curriculum, then clicking in the various fields and typing the requested information.
When you have finished filling out all the documents, to download them to your computer, click on the button Download located at the bottom right, make sure there is a check mark next to the items relating to all the documents you have compiled and choose the file format in which to download them among PDF + XML, Word, Opendocument ed XML. By downloading the files in PDF and / or XML format you will have the possibility to upload them again to the Europass website and modify them. Unfortunately, this possibility is not given if you download the curriculum in Word or OpenDocument format.
Finally, choose whether to download your documents to the computer, on a service of Cloud Storage or whether to send them away e-mail (pressing one of the available buttons) and that's it.
Curriculum vitae templates for Word
If you want make a curriculum vitae with Word without resorting to Europass, you can download one of the many resume templates available directly in Word. To “browse” them all and choose the one that best suits your needs, start Word and use the template search bar to search for the term "curriculum".
Then presses on the button Submit of the keyboard and within a few seconds you will see the complete list of templates dedicated to curricula appear.
To download the curriculum vitae you intend to use, all you have to do is select its thumbnail and click on the button Crea present in the box that opens. Within a few moments, Word will download the resume template and open it to allow you to modify it: when the template is open, all you have to do is replace / fill in the entries and fields in it with your data (e.g. contact details, objectives, previous experiences, etc.).
Remember that your resume must be readable by all your potential employers in no more than thirty seconds. So try to stick to the downloaded template (which can still be edited like any Word document) and condense all the most important information in lists and boxes that are easy to view at first glance.
When you have completed its compilation, you can save your resume as any Word file or PDF document by clicking on the button Fillet located at the top left, by selecting the item Save with name from the menu that opens and pressing the button Shop by Department in the screen that opens.
By following the same mechanism just followed for the curriculum vitae (thus looking for the templates available "standard" in Word), you can also create a cover letter and other documents useful in finding a job.
How to make a curriculum vitae in Word for smartphones and tablets
As you may already know, Microsoft Word it is also available as an application for smartphones and tablets. It is compatible with Android, iOS and Windows Phone and is free for all devices that do not exceed 10,1 ″ screen diagonal. For larger devices, an Office 365 subscription is required, which is paid.
That said, I want to tell you that you can make a curriculum vitae with Word also by acting as a smartphone and tablet. How? There are two ways you can follow. If you are not interested in the Europass model, you can simply open the app, press the button New located in the left sidebar and call up a resume template (eg. Base Curriculum) from the list of available models.
Then proceed to fill in all the fields (by pressing on them and replacing the default text that is inside them) and all the changes will be saved automatically.
Alternatively, if you prefer to use the Europass template, you have to download the resume template as I explained to you before and copy the file to a cloud storage service accessible from Word Mobile, for example OneDrive o dropbox.
At this point, start Word on your smartphone or tablet, select the item apri from the left sidebar and first select the cloud storage service on which you have saved the Europass template (dropbox o OneDrive) and then the name of the document to start editing it.
