Riot Games is staying true to its name and adding a brand new game, Valorant, to its library. Unless stated otherwise, it is not expected to launch until summer 2020, provided beta testing is on track. Until then, it's time to start reserving a unique Riot ID. Before you can do this, you need to create an account with Riot Games.
Start by heading to the official Riot Games League of Legends website. No, you don't have to play League of Legends, but technically speaking, your Riot account covers the entire catalog of Riot Games titles. See "Login" at the top right corner of the page? Start there. If you need to change the language, which also changes the region and server you're playing on, click on the little globe icon to the left of “Connection”. At the bottom of the login page, click on "Create an account".
Image via Riot GamesFirst, provide a valid email address, your birthday and lastly, a username and password. The username you choose is for login purposes only and is not your unique Riot ID. Do not share your username or password with anyone, not even your dog. Once you've created a Riot Games account, sign in.
Image via Riot GamesOnce logged in, click on "My Account" in the upper right corner and choose "Settings" from the drop-down menu. Once redirected to your account page, click on "Riot ID" in the left column. See the little edit icon? Click on it. You are now invited to create a unique riot ID and hashtag. The Riot ID is what every player will see, but the hashtag remains hidden unless you're on someone's friends list. When you have discovered a combination that works, it will be yours when the next Valorant finally launches.
