Later, also known by the old name Latergramme, is a tool that allows you to manage your social networks. With Later, you can in fact publish posts on your accounts Instagram, Facebook, Twitter e Pinterest. The site offers tools such as the post scheduling, repost of images from other profiles, the organization of the media to be shared and even a section of data analysis on the interactions (likes and comments) for each post and on the followers over time. In short, it is a really useful platform in the world of social media marketing.
Later is not only a tool for professionals and companies, it is in fact available in a Basic version (ie with some limitations in the functions), even for those who have many photos to share and want to do it with order and care. For these people, Later is free. So let's see how to take advantage of this wonderful tool to improve the management of your social networks.
The first access to Later
To make your first access to the management page of your social profiles on Later, you will of course have to register. The process to make Later operational is simple, but you will need to arm yourself with a little patience. Follow these simple steps:
- Access the registration page by pressing Sign In in the upper right corner of your screens;
- To connect your Instagram account faster, click the relevant button. The link will redirect you to the Instagram site where you will have to enter the username and password of your personal account.
- Afterwards, you will be asked to authorize Later to control your Instagram account.
- Accepting the conditions is compulsory if you want to use Later!
- Complete your registration by entering your email address, password, default time zone and account type. To take advantage of the free features offered by Later, choose to create an account Personnel. Don't forget to tick the box where you accept the terms of use and the privacy policies.
- After clicking Next, the first part of setting up your Later account is completed. To publish the posts, however, Later requires the installation of a dedicated app on your smartphone. Follow the instructions that will appear by clicking on the yellow popup that will appear in the center of the screen, as shown in the figure
- Finally, after downloading and installing the application on your smartphone, use the email address and password you entered when registering with Later. Now you just have to follow the instructions on the screen and finally press Start, in the lower right corner of the display.
Setup is now complete! All that remains is to find out now the many functions that Later offers to better manage your Instagram account.
Post scheduling and organization
The strong point of Later is undoubtedly the possibility of schedule the publication of posts. Just upload a photo by simply dragging it from your PC to the page Calendar by Later (use the photo below for reference).
All you have to do is add a caption and hashtags (which can be saved and reused as a group), set the date and time of publication and click on Save. As soon as the publication time strikes, a notification like this will appear on your smartphones
Click on the notification, which will take you to a brief explanation of what you need to do next. In particular, beware of the fact that the caption of your photo it will not appear automatically! In fact, Later can only save a copy of the text on the clipboard of your smartphone. What you will have to do, once redirected to the Instagram app, is to paste your caption as you do with normal text, then performing a long tap on the space dedicated to the caption and selecting Paste immediately after. Finally, of course, click on Share.
Later offers the possibility to upload your photos directly from your accounts dropbox e Google Drive. Finally, if you have a lot of photos to post over time, you can take advantage of the tool Media Library to organize posts, label them and manually insert them on the calendar.
Later has a monthly and weekly calendar view, not counting the function Preview, very useful for having an overview of the arrangement of your posts on your Instagram profile, so that you can intuitively rearrange the publication order of your posts.
Repost and hashtag search
The function Search & Repost is another useful tool designed for those who want to enrich their profile with images posted on social networks from other profiles.
How Search & Repost works is very simple:
- On the search bar, look for the hashtag related to the topic you are interested in;
- Select the post you like, then select Add to Library.
- The post is now available both in the Media Library section, ready to be organized like any photo of you, and in the Calendar section to be published instantly.
It may seem trivial, but remember to mention the original author of the post in your caption. Later adds the mention automatically, so don't delete it!
Data analysis
Later offers, even for free profiles, some analysis related to your posts. Particularly:
- Overview of your 5 best performing posts in terms of interactions, likes and comments;
- Summary of the number of followers, following and published posts
- Performance details of each published post.
Unfortunately, to know more information related to the growth of your profile, you will have to perform theupgrade your Later profile. Rates start at 9 dollars a month. Alternatively, you can use other tools to collect the complete statistics of your Instagram account.
Management of multiple social networks
Later does not stop at the management of Instagram only, but also acts as a useful tool for users Facebook, Twitter e Pinterest. To add your social profile, click on the + button shown in the figure.
The limits of the free plan
As we mentioned earlier, the basic plan offered by Later has some limitations, which are not strict, but which should be made known. With the basic plan in fact
- You will not be able to share video;
- You will have a limit of 30 posts per month for Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest, 50 posts per month on Twitter;
- You will not be able to take advantage of professional profile analysis tools, nor very useful services such as Best Time To Post and programming more post with more photos;
- You will not be able to interact with Comments.
