Progressing in Link's Awakening takes a long time because you will find yourself running around, catching new items and bringing them to places where you can continue your adventure. At some point, you'll need to grab hold of Frog's Song of Soul, which you'll get by conquering the Signpost Maze. The maze of panels is a puzzle that you will have to solve by approaching a series of panels in a particular order to unlock it. Here is how you go about it.
Note, you should know that you are going to need a grappling hook to solve this puzzle. If you don't have it yet, you are not ready to enter this part of the game.
How to complete the maze of panels when Link awakens
To gain access to the Labyrinth of Signs, you will need to travel to the southeast of Mabe Village. There you will locate a significant number of signposts in the middle of a small clearing. You should see small bodies of water in the middle of them. The first sign you should approach is the one between the tree and the cut tree. This will be the one in the middle of the clearing, directly downstream from the entrance to the clearing in the yellow earth.
Before you commit to Signposte Maze, it is essential to write down the tip about this puzzle. When you approach a sign, it will tell you to go in a specific direction. You want to go in that direction and find the sign immediately at the end of this small road. When you do, approach and get directions for the next sign. You do this until you reach the final sign and complete the maze. However, the course does not come from Link's standing position. You will move according to the location of the sign.
For example, if a sign tells Link to go right, you won't go to the first sign Link meets when standing in front of the sign. You want to place Link perpendicular to the sign, then go right until Link reaches the next sign. It's the right one. If you only rush to the one where Link is standing, you're going to get lost and start over.
Here is the order of the panels:
- The first will send you right. You want the signpost in front of pink flowers.
- The second will fire you. You want the signpost in front of a lush, green bush.
- The third will send you to the left. You will need your grapple to grab the lower hull from the other side. Go ahead by destroying the crates.
- The fourth panel will send you. You go to the panel two spaces behind the cut tree. Make sure to avoid the hole two spaces right in front of it.
- The fifth will send you right. You want the sign directly in front of the tall grass.
- The sixth will fire you. You want the sign with pink flowers to its left.
- The seventh will send you right. You are going to want to sign with a rock to its left. You will stand in the tall grass ahead.
- The eighth will send you. You're going to want the sign in the middle of the tree trunk and the solid tree.
- The ninth will send you to the left. You're going to want the sign with the hole to its left.
- The tenth will fire you. You want the sign in the water, directly below.
- The eleventh will send you right. You want the sign with the rock to the left of it.
- The twelve will fire you. You want the sign with the big rock in front of it. Destroy the rock to read it.
- The thirteenth will send you to the left. You want the sign with the big tree to its left, with tall grass in front of it. When you read it, stairs will appear and you will have completed the maze.
