How to get a team captain
Madden 21 introduced four new Team Captains, all of whom are greats from the league's past that you can fit into your squad to really help out in Madden Ultimate Team. For this year's game, the four you will have to choose from are RB Eddie George, DT La'Roi Glover, WR Ed McCaffrey and CB Aeneas Williams.
Madden Ultimate Team mode can be chosen from the main menu, even with an icon telling you how to choose a team captain on the home screen. These home screen icons do rotate, however, so your mileage may vary there.
Once you are in Madden Ultimate Team, you will experience the first of many challenges you can complete as part of the game mode. These early challenges fall under the Rivalz category, more specifically known as Ultimate Team 101. Each of these first challenges is incredibly simple, like making three passes in a drive or rushing 10 yards, so keep playing through them.
Eventually, you'll find yourself at the Ultimate Team home screen, which gives you plenty of other options here. For now, you're going to want to select the “Choose your team captain” icon here, then select “Team captain” on the next screen, then “Captain tries” on the third screen.
From there you will be taken to a screen with four tries, one for each of the game's four team captains. You should start with Eddie George and gain more than 15 yards in the drive. Then it will also move on to the following tests, the second for DT La'Roi Glover asking you not to allow more than 20 meters on the journey. The third try is for Ed McCaffrey, who needs you to go over 20 yards on the ride. Finally, the fourth down for Aeneas Williams is to allow 15 yards or less that distance.
After completing these four trials, you will earn the Team Captain Fantasy Pack. This will then be opened and allow you to choose between the four players. Once you select the player, that player will then be added to your squad and it's up to you to place them as a starter, unless you really want to take on a challenge from your chosen captain.
