Marvel's Avengers - Coming to Nintendo Switch?

Is it coming to Nintendo Switch?

At the time of its launch, Marvel's Avengers was released on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and even Stadia. The bad news is that since its launch, Marvel's Avengers haven't released on Nintendo Switch either. While this is the case for the moment, the question however is whether it will come later?

Marvel's Avengers is from developer Crystal Dynamics and published by Square Enix, which we'll dive into a bit further. On the developer side, Crystal Dynamics hadn't released a game unrelated to Tomb Raider for over 15 years before Marvel's Avengers. In fact, they also haven't released a new game since 2015's Rise of the Tomb Raider while working on Marvel's Avengers. A few of the Wii-era Tomb Raider games have been released for Wii as well, but the last time anything happened on a Nintendo platform from Crystal Dynamics was Tomb Raider: Underworld in 2008.

Square Enix has been much more user-friendly overall with Nintendo platforms, including offering exclusive games and a number of ports. However, some of the company's larger-scale games like Kingdom Hearts 3 and Final Fantasy XV were never bothered to get into the system. Unfortunately, that will likely be the case with Marvel's Avengers depending on the overall scale and graphics level of the game.

Even though the Nintendo Switch has improved its online play this generation, it is still sorely lacking compared to other platforms. Considering how much of this game is oriented online with all games as a service aspect, the Switch wouldn't exactly be the best platform for that. That's why other games like Destiny 2 probably haven't made the jump to the most popular platform right now either, which is probably the best comparison when it comes to the multiplayer aspects.

While it doesn't seem likely that Marvel's Avengers will arrive on Nintendo Switch, at least Switch owners have their own Marvel exclusivity with Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order. If you have to compromise on getting this Switch exclusive so you don't have Marvel's Avengers on the system, that would probably be fair given that you can have a different platform to play both.
