Persona 5 Royal - Persona Izanagi no Okami Picaro guide and analysis

Person 5 Royal features several iconic Personae from the series obtainable only via DLC or included in the game's Deluxe Edition.

In this guide we will explain all the information on one of them, that is Izanagi no Okami, the final Persona of the protagonist of Persona 4.

Origin and representation in the saga

The name Izanagi no Okami appears in many chronicles. Also known as the "inviting man", he is believed to be the creator of Japan and its deities under the guidance of his wife, the goddess Izanami.

When Izanami died, Izanagi tried to save her from the underworld, but failed. In her new form, the goddess attempted to kill her ex-husband, and swore that she would kill a thousand men a day. Izanagi then declared that every day he would give birth to 1500 more men.

The name Okami means “Supreme Divinity". This represents his true being, which is a deity born from the seven divine generations of Japanese folklore.

Izanagi makes her first appearance in Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei, the first book in the novel trilogy that inspired the entire Shin Megami Tensei saga. He later appeared in the titles Megami Tensei II, Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei, and Shin Megami Tensei III: Nocturne as a secondary character.

In the Persona spin-offs, however, Izanagi no Okami first appears in 4 person as the final evolution of the protagonist's first Persona.

He then reappeared in all the spinoffs of that chapter of the saga, in Persona 4 Golden and in the two titles Persona Q and Persona Q2, always alongside the protagonist.

In Persona 5 Royal it is available as a DLC or as a bonus of the game's Digital Deluxe.

Unlike the basic version, Izanagi no Okami Picaro wields a serrated blade, and also features red and gold tones in line with the other Personae Picaro.

Both are also the only Personae belonging to theArcane World.
