Pokémon Go has now been active and continuously supported for five years, and it seems that soon we could see the highly anticipated Mega Mewtwo in game. The game is currently in the midst of its fifth anniversary celebrations and the official Twitter account has just published a key art depicting the mega evolution of the famous legendary pokémon.
Pokémon Go: is Mega Mewtwo coming?
Pokémon GO is still far from being concluded. In addition to being an unparalleled economic success for Niantic, just think that in 2020 it had a turnover of one billion dollars, the software house has yet to introduce two entire generations of pocket creatures, the seventh and eighth. Some regional forms of Pokémon previously introduced into the game are already available, but the full Pokédex is currently still a dream.
A new key art published by the official Pokémon Go Twitter account, however, may have revealed Niantic's plans for the near future. In fact, four Pokémon in particular stand out in the image. The first three are Rowlet, Popplio e Litten, the basic forms of the Alolan starters, an element that many believe could suggest the imminent arrival of the seventh generation creatures in the game.

- Pokémon GO (@PokemonGoApp) July 6, 2021The fourth Pokémon that has caught the attention of fans instead is Mega Mewtwo X, one of the two mega evolutions of the legendary Pokémon of Kanto. Mega Evolutions were introduced in Go about a year ago, but at the moment many of the Pokémon that can perform them have not yet received the Mega Energy required for the transformation. One of these of course is Mewtwo.
The arrival of Mega Mewtwo is certainly much more likely than the debut of the seventh gen, even if, given the very high attack value of the legendary, it could be a difficult task to defeat him in the raids dedicated to him. Despite this post, there are no guarantees that we will actually see these mega evolutions anytime soon in game. On the other hand, last year Mega Lucario appeared in a key art and there is still no trace of him.
