The eggplant Easter egg | What would you like to know

Eggplant is a unique (and useless) item that you can get away with sacrificing a gift box on a bloody altar. Gift boxes randomly appear in stores, and breaking them results in a random item roll. But, if you sacrifice the unopened box at Kali's Altar, you will earn a eggplant.

Why? Gift boxes are rare and you may never see one in an entire series. Eggplant is a held item, so you cannot take a weapon with you if you are carrying it. It is apparently completely unnecessary. But the eggplant has a use in it.

With the eggplant you can unlock the Parenthood Trophy. Here is how it works.

  • Parenthood Trophy Guide
    • Obtain the Eggplant by placing a Gift Box (acquired by a vendor, appears randomly) on a Blood Altar. You will receive an eggplant in exchange.
    • Take Eggplant all the way to the Ice Caves 5-1. Place the eggplant on the purple altar.
    • The eggplant will hatch and become the eggplant child!

Yes, this time you can acquire your own Eggplant NPC. Getting it down to 5-1 is absurdly difficult, but you can do more with the Eggplant Child. Continuing to Neo-Babylon, you will find a strange door in the shape of a Yama.

And there's more to the Eggplant Easter Egg:

Yama is the real final boss of - if you have the eggplant child with you, the Yama gate Neo-Babylon will open. There's nothing too big inside, just a bunch of treasure and item rewards. It's another elaborate Easter Egg that's ridiculously hard to discover, but players have been way faster this time around.

There may be more to eggplant than we know. It's much more difficult than the original, so hopefully experienced players uncover more Eggplant Child mysteries in the near future.
