New World

1.5 adds a whole new region of the world, Ginger Island (which is part of the Fern Islands):

  • Added new locations, dialogues, events, mini-games, puzzles, and a series of quests involving multiple NPCs.
  • Added Leo, a new NPC with their own story, plot, events, etc.
  • Added new secondary NPCs: Birdie, Gourmand Frog and Professor Snail.
  • Added a volcanic dungeon that changes every time you visit it, similar to mines.

New features of the farm

  • Added new beach farm layout.
  • Addition of the ostrich as a farm animal.

  • Beds are now normal furniture that you can pick up, move, and replace.

  • Added Special Orders, more dynamic endgame quests that allow you to help villagers with their personal projects via a special orders board in town. These can include more varied goals and rewards, temporary changes in the world, permanent changes (eg, new store inventory), and post-completion events.
  • Added a second community upgrade to Robin's Shop.

  • You can now further customize sprinklers with attachments:
    • Enricher automatically applies the loaded fertilizer while planting seeds nearby;
    • The pressure nozzle increases the watering range.

Quality of life changes

  • Added a box of items found in Mayor Lewis's house. This can be used to collect items given to failed Special Orders, lost quest items and tools, offline player items, children's hats that have been turned into doves, and items left in the display case. the Stardew Valley Fair.
  • You can now sit on chairs (both placed furniture and chairs that are part of the map).
  • You can now place most furniture outside.
  • You can now talk to people on horseback.
  • You can now donate items of different qualities for the same ingredient from the Community Bundle.
  • You can no longer plant fruit trees on tiles that they will no longer be able to grow on.
  • Improved game menus and HUD:

    • The “infestation” indicator in mines is now drawn next to the floor number, rather than replacing it.
  • Improved Shop Menus:
    • You can now press ESC or Controller B to move the retained item to your inventory (or drop it off if you run out of inventory room).
    • When holding a purchase, the inventory now highlights the items you can stack it with.
  • Improved sprinklers:
    • Sprinklers can now water Slime Hutch troughs.
    • Hoes no longer remove sprinklers.
  • Improved Voyage of the Prairie King:
    • Progress can now be saved and resumed, so it can be completed in multiple sessions.
    • You now also replay the original difficulty even if you have already completed it. (Previously this automatically increased the difficulty, which is now a New Game + mode.)

Balance changes

  • Combat changes:
    • Immunity now reduces the chance of status debuffs.
    • Changed the cooldown of special moves on Daggers (6 → 3 seconds) and Clubs (4 → 6 seconds).
    • The dagger special attack now secures the target in place until the last hit (which then knocks them back), so stabs are less likely to miss.
    • Desperado profession damage bonus reduced from 3x to 2x.
    • Slightly improved critical strike chance of the dagger.
  • Manufacturing changes:
    • Changed the recipe for the Skull Brazier (previously 10 hardwood + solar essence + charcoal; now 10 bone fragments).
    • Repairing a fence now restores the full health of the fence, instead of half the health of a new fence.
  • Agricultural changes:
    • Reduced cost of ducks (2000 → 600g).
    • Doubled the value of duck feathers.
    • Slightly increased the spawn rate of duck feathers.
  • Fishing changes:
    • Fishing rod gear no longer loses stamina when catching trash.
    • Catching a non-fish item no longer triggers the mini-game.
    • Achieving an effective fishing level of 15+ now increases the rod casting range by one tile.
  • Mining modifications:
    • Gem Nodes now provide mining XP and can drop diamonds.
    • Gem Node drops are no longer limited by mine level.
  • Changes to deposited objects:
    • Stumps and Hollow Logs now have a 10% chance to drop Mahogany Seeds.
    • Any Monster in the Secret Woods now has a 10% chance to drop Mahogany Seeds.
    • Skeletons now have a 4% chance to drop a Bone Sword.
    • Wild Golems now drop Rice Sprouts more often.
    • Certain Skull Cavern monsters now have a small chance to drop Red Cabbage Seeds.
    • Pure white slimes now drop diamonds and fine quartz.
    • Some containers now drop better items after hitting the bottom of mines at least once.
    • Different Drops now unlock at mine levels 60/80/100 and at the first level of the Skull Cave.
    • Reduced lead Rod drop chance to mine levels 60 to 79 (or Skull Cavern level 40+ before the previous patch), and increased the chance of Shadow Dagger and Wood Mallet.
    • Mine Wood Barrels can now drop Basic Holding Earth instead of Sap.
    • Mine Frost Barrels can now drop Quality Conservation Earth instead of Sap.
    • Reduced risk of dropping Aquamarine, Frozen Geode, Hardwood, Jade, or Equipment from 35% to 26%.
  • Shop changes:
    • Peter will now sell his seasonal items all year round once you complete a new quest.
    • Added two more items to the Stardew Valley Fair Star Token Shop.
    • Reduced workshop price (3000 → 2000g).
    • Coconuts can be purchased from Sandy's on Mondays. It is now limited to ten per day.
  • Machine changes:
    • The processing time of some machines was previously affected by the time of day. These have been standardized so that they are always ready when the morning begins: Bee House (every 4 days), Mushroom Box (2 days), Strange Capsule (3 days), Tapper (depends on entry) and Worm Bin (every morning)).
  • Double Star Token rewards for the Slingshot and Fishing mini-games at the Stardew Valley Fair.

Multiplayer changes

  • Added local split-screen multiplayer.
  • The co-op participation screen now remembers the last IP address you entered.
  • Farm workers can now move buildings in Robin's menu. The host can configure how it works (off, on, or just for a player's cabin).
  • Using the Return Scepter now returns Farmworkers to the front door of their cabin instead of the Host's Farm.
  • Added various new chat messages when a player does something.
  • When you view a shared multiplayer event (such as the community center event or the Morris intro), you no longer have to head to the event location.
  • When the host player sees the Year XNUMX event, the Grandpa theme is now added to all players' jukeboxes, even if they were not in-game at the time.

Interaction changes

  • Reworked slingshot controls: It now targets the cursor position and is triggered by holding and releasing the mouse / gamepad fire button. The previous mode (in which you hold the button down and shoot the cursor to aim) can be re-enabled in the options menu if desired.
  • To simplify bulk actions like harvesting, holding a button while moving will no longer repeat special weapon attacks, open / close barn / chicken coop doors, or interact with rocks, chests, furniture, hollow logs, meteorites, shipping bins or scarecrows.
  • Constructed Shipping Bins now have a click-to-ship hitbox that better matches the original map-based Shipping Bin hitbox.
  • Flooring can now be applied by clicking on the tile the farmer is standing on. Previously, the flooring had to be applied on a tile next to the farmer.
  • Purchasing recipes with a full inventory no longer displays the message that inventory is full.
  • Clicking on an empty tile just above an interactive item (such as a machine or chest) now activates the item, as clicking below in previous versions.
  • Trees cut from above or below will now take into consideration the player's horizontal position when falling to the left or right.
  • Clicking near the lower left corner of the screen no longer opens the chat box.
  • You can no longer open the Quest Journal by tapping the onscreen journal button if you're currently doing something.
  • You can now use the "Y" KEY to respond to dialog boxes for holes and output scales in mines.
  • Controller improvements:
    • When buying / wagering tokens in the Stardew Valley Festival with a controller, holding the number select button now increases the amount faster.
    • Events can now be ignored on the controller even if a dialog is on the screen.
    • Pressing B on a controller while on a specific quest page now returns to the quest list instead of closing the menu.
    • Pressing B on a controller while an item is held in the craft menu now aligns with the trash can (similar to the inventory screen).

Other changes

  • Save names are now based on the farm name instead of the player's name. (Saves originally created before version 1.5 will continue to use the player's name.)
  • Penny and the Dwarf are now artifacts.
  • Improved dinosaur sleep sprites.
  • Characters now face you when talking to them rather than when the dialog closes (solo).
  • On the last day of a tracked quest, the stopwatch now shows “last day” instead of “1 day” for clarity.
  • Added many changes for modders.
  • Cosmetic adjustments to various sprites.

Fixes for multiplayer

  • Fixed an issue where fences would degrade faster in multiplayer.
  • Fixed an issue where a farm worker crashing while completing the final batch could permanently prevent the unlock from triggering correctly. It is now unlocked the next time a character enters the area.
  • Farm workers are now correctly positioned under the elevator instead of the ladder when using it to navigate mines.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented other Farmers' emoticons from playing if you were watching an event.
  • Fixed a minor issue where multiple players receiving the free coffee at the Night Market at the same time could prevent anyone from receiving it.
  • Fixed Grandfather's Note reappearing for Farm Workers.
  • Fixed an issue where cows from Haley's photoshoot event could be seen sliding for farm workers. (Non-actor characters in events are now controlled by the host.)

Fixes for interaction with players

  • Fixed rare controller and mouse input drops.
  • Fixed not being able to reassemble a horse after dismounting it behind an expedition bin.
  • Fixed an issue where it was sometimes impossible to name an animal with a controller because the onscreen keyboard would appear and disappear in the same frame.
  • Fixed the hair color slider on the character customization screen not updating correctly when the hair color was random.
  • Fixed some farm tiles incorrectly preventing buildings from being placed on them.

Fixes for visual or cosmetic issues

  • Adjusted sorting of item ready indicators for taps.
  • Unified when night tiles are applied to correct inconsistencies as windows go from light to dark.
  • The critters list is now erased overnight. This fixes an issue where having a butterfly hutch in your house and repeatedly sleeping without leaving would spawn endless butterflies in the house.
  • Improvement of various texts:
    • Fixed some locations using inches for fish measurements at reference centimeters.
    • Fixed description of the mill not mentioning rice.
    • Fixed typos in dialogs and events.
    • Fixed missing characters in Chinese and Korean fonts.
    • Fixed credits not showing correctly locator names if the current language font does not contain the necessary characters.
    • Improvement of many translations.
  • Fixed various cosmetic / layering issues with character shadows.
  • Fixed characters in Events snagging odd animated frames when skipping an event.
  • Fixed various cases where the camera would pan unnecessarily after changing locations.
  • Fixed greenhouse trees taking on seasonal appearances.
  • Fixed the tooltip for purchasing edible but non-health repair items (like crocus) showing the price outside the tooltip.
  • Fixed a single frame flickering in Haley's 10 Heart event.
  • Fixed a flickering of a single farm image when starting a new game.
  • Fixed stamina bar showing sweat particles when fishing during the Fishing Competition.

  • Fixed lightning at night not being randomized correctly, so either every night lightning hit or none of them would.
