Specialization Points are earned from daily and weekly projects, completing invaded missions, difficult checkpoints, and leveling up.
Specialization points are earned in several ways. Levels after 40 or 30 (depending on whether you own the expansion or not) will grant a specialization point (however, starting in Warlords of New York it's buggy, but a fix should be implemented soon). Additionally, completion of the daily project will award one specialization point, and completion of the weekly will award three.
UPDATE 03/06/2020: To date, specialization points are earned for each level between 31 and 40, and for each SHD level achieved. Only one point if awarded per higher level, and points are not retroactive. It's 27 points that I personally miss. A disappointment, of course, but at least the problem has been solved.
The invaded mission gives five specialization points on hard difficulty or above for the first time, but as of Title 8 update they appear to be slightly broken. You will get them at the end, but the game won't tell you. Likewise, +4 Checkpoints (Hard AKA) still grant a single point when released, but they don't seem to show up in the UI.
Weekly Bounties are used to distribute points, but that's no longer the case (although some have claimed on the subreddit that the Black Tusk Elite Bounties still work). This has yet to be confirmed as a bug or a deliberate change to the Warlords of New York expansion.
From now on, this is how you get specialization points in The Division 2. I will update this article once the bugs have been fixed, and once we have a confirmation of the omitted points. in bonuses. In the meantime, if you want to maximize your earnings, you'll need to tackle challenging content, complete your projects, and increase your experience points via directives (once the upgrade bug is squashed).
