The Outer World - How to change text size

If you've played The Outer Worlds on PC and want the in-game text to be a bit bigger, that's great news! Redditor ChocoTacoz has found a way to do just that. Read on to learn how to make text size bigger, but it will only work on PC.

The Outer Worlds - How to Change Text Size

This process takes a bit of tweaking of the .INI file. The first thing to do is therefore to find your Engine.INI file.

For the Microsoft Game Pass version of the game it should be the following path. Please note that due to the size of the location we had to break it down into paragraphs. It should be a single path:

% LOCALAPPDATA% Packages PrivateDivision.
TheOuterWorldsWindows10_hv3d7yfbgr2rp LocalCache
Local Indiana Saved Config WindowsNoEditor

For the Epic Games Store version of the game, it should be the following path:

C: Users * username * AppData Local Indiana Saved Config WindowsNoEditor

Open the Engine.INI file. Use the insert below for the last line of text.

[/Script/Engine.UserInterfaceSettings]
Application scale = 1,185

This fix is not perfect. This affects the entire user interface and not just the size of the text. If you want to change the setting to your preference, the number to change is 1,185, but be sure to do it in small increments. If you make a number too large, the edges of the user interface will be pushed past the boundaries of the screen.

This fix is temporary, but Alex Frey, Obsidian Production Manager, has indicated that he will prioritize a fix for this issue. Hopefully it won't be too long before a way to change it is easily fixed in the game.
