The Surge 2 - How To Beat Little Johnny

The Surge 2 - How To Beat Little Johnny

Little Johnny is the first big boss you meet in Surge 2. His brother asks you to take care of him (family, right?). You have to make your way through Terminal Z, opening all the shortcuts as you go, to give yourself a chance to get from Med Bay fight to boss fight, as you might need to. .

How to beat little Johnny

The first thing to do is to know what to hit and in what order. Little Johnny has three legs which are obvious targets, but don't go for the first time.

Instead, you want to lock the coolant reservoirs under its chassis. Smash the two before moving on to his legs. When working on the chassis of the coolant tanks, you need to be careful, because sometimes little Johnny will stand up and spill a large volume of coolant on the ground with mines. These mines are distributed in circles and are annoying. When that happens, move to a new part of the arena and he will follow you.

If you are having trouble hitting the coolant reservoirs, I highly suggest using a lance style weapon and using stab attacks as they have good range.

Once both are out, you can start working the legs. The trick here is to focus on one leg and take off quickly, with little Johnny having a fast and erratic attack pattern with his legs. These attacks are triggered by damage received.

When you break your leg, there will be a poisonous gas leak. You want to avoid this side as you work through the other legs. The gas is the reason we remove the coolant tanks first. Trying to eliminate them in a cloud of poisonous gas is a death sentence.

You have to watch out for a little attack Johnny does where he turns onto his side and vomits the acid in a cone attack. Don't let that hit you. If you continue to get poisoned, be sure to equip the Antidote Injection Implant to treat the poison effect.

If you are struggling with this fight, maybe you came too soon. Don't be afraid to go, explore Jericho more, level up to find new gear, and upgrade your rig. It's not an easy fight if you get there too early.

Most of the time you want to be patient, go for the coolant reservoirs, then the legs, and find a good balance between developing your batteries to heal yourself and not letting yourself be too threatened with damage.
