the Battletoads are back. Finally, after 26 years of waiting, fans of Zitz, Rash and Pimple are getting a successor to the extremely difficult original after Microsoft announced an official release date for the game developed by Dlala Studios.
The Battletoads have featured in other titles produced by Xbox in recent years, such as Killer Instinct and Rare Replay, as well as third-party games like Knight of the Shovel. They haven't had their own adventures since their first game, which launched in 1994, so it's high time the game's coolest toads got a sequel.
And now we have confirmation of the release date for this sequel. Battletoads will arrive on Thursday, August 20. It's coming to Xbox One, Windows 10, Steam, and Xbox Game Pass. So there are many platforms on which you can beat your enemies.
Battletoads will feature couch co-op, so you and two friends can participate in the same game and take on the Dark Queen and her allies. Expect plenty of puzzle solving, beat'em up action, and racing elements that will seek to captivate and frustrate you in equal measure. If it looks like the original, you will be pulling your hair out like it did in 1994.
If that gets too much of a challenge for you, there are a number of difficulty level options out there, so don't worry if that boss or racing section is causing you all kinds of grief. Classic Battletoads humor will be on hand to put a smile on your face no matter what difficulty level you're playing, judging by the trailer above, so we won't be judging you for playing it easy.
Xbox Game Pass subscribers can preload Battletoads on console and PC starting today (July 31), so you're ready to fight on launch day.
