Xiaomi Redmi Note 11: our review of the new Xiaomi smartphone

Over the past few weeks we have had the opportunity to rehearse extensively Redmi Notes 11, Xiaomi's new smartphone previously published only in the Chinese market. Our test took place with the standard device distributed by the Chinese company, which we found generally more than good in our daily activities. Without further ado then let's take a look at the review by Xiaomi Redmi Note 11.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11: our review

As always, we start from the design of this device, to get an idea of what to expect smartphone in hand. Its size is small compared to the range Pro, but absolutely acceptable for a basic range device, given that we are dealing with 6,43 diagonal inches of the display. However, there are some differences compared to the 2021 model.

For example, the lines of the frame are much straighter, and in general, it gives a surprising sensation of solidity during use, probably thanks to the good quality of the polycarbonate.

I edges of the display, in this sense they are pleasantly rounded and strong with very thick edges, useful for cushioning any shocks that the smartphone could possibly suffer.

The design of the module is also very pleasant camera, which we found particularly appropriate and able to blend elegance and contemporaneity together. Finally, as in many other devices, the fingerprint reader it is located on the on / off button, a traditional choice, but which we still appreciated because of its undeniable comfort.

Some specifications

The display seemed particularly good for a mid-range device like this one, given that it is AMOLED with peak brightness up to 1000 nits and a 90 Hz refresh rate, therefore higher than the 60 Hz that we would all have expected from Redmi Note 11. There is also one DCI-P3 color gamut and the full HD + resolution to complete the picture of this screen, which seemed really solid to us.

We also have the processor to be felt particularly during our test Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 eight-core made with 6 nm technology which, according to what was declared by Xiaomi, should guarantee performance 20% higher than older generation devices. An element that all in all we would like to confirm, also thanks to the software optimization.

The processor makes use of good memory to help maintain high performance RAM 4GB, not quite the top, but enough to make the device efficient in practically any situation. The integrated memory is also expandable up to one TB with an external memory card.

As for the cameras we have an 8MP wide angle, a 2MP macro and a 2MP depth, the fourth instead, or the main one is from 50MP. A rather modest upgrade compared to the rest of the Redmi Note 11 range, and which represents a partial missed opportunity for the base model.

Perplexities and conclusions

Although the overall offer of this device is more than excellent, there are some shortcomings that we must necessarily mention. The most important of all is undoubtedly the absence of support for 5G connectivity, quite predictable for a basic model like this, but which we would like to point out anyway, given that it is a feature that could make some users turn up their noses.

There is also concern regarding video recording, which reaches a maximum resolution in 1080p and 30 FPS, which is slightly behind even its competitors who are in the same price range. Again this is not a critical element, but for some it could be a deterrent.

In short, to be a basic model, Xiaomi Note 11 Redmire guarantees a good plethora of features and performance, especially when we consider the really affordable price and elegant design. For all users who do not have big claims in terms of video recording and who are not interested in 5G it could be an ideal option, for all others we recommend the Pro models instead.

In closing we point out that Redmi Note 11 will be available at the price of €229,9 for the 4GB + 64GB ea configuration €249,9 for the 4GB + 128GB variant. This latest version will also be available for purchase in major mobile phone stores
