Avengers Beta - How to Unlock Snowy Tundra Secret Mission

How to unlock the secret mission in the Avengers beta

The Snowy Tundra secret mission in the Avengers beta is actually unlocked in another mission. Completing an optional objective in the Stark Realities mission will give you the coordinates that will allow you to visit the snowy tundra. Head over to the War Table map and select Stark Realities in the Pacific Northwest region. You're looking for a secret SHIELD cache, but it won't be tagged for you. You will need to use the signal locator to locate the cache.

The Signal Locator will only activate when you're a certain distance from the SHIELD cache, but you should be able to find it by heading left through the woods immediately after loading into the mission. Eventually you will see an indicator on your screen indicating that you are some distance away from something. Use this information to focus on the location of the SHIELD cache. Once you've found it and made your way inside, you'll find a marked chest. Open it and you will unlock the Snowy Tundra mission. You don't need to complete Stark Realities to keep this item. You can back off whenever you want.

Explore the snowy tundra

The Snowy Tundra region should now be unlocked on the War Table map. It's a far cry from the default regions you've already unlocked. You may have to scroll a bit to see it.

The region is exactly the same as the early beta mission with Kamala and Hulk, but you have a new objective this time around. There are various points of interest to explore and loot, but your main goal is to find the SHIELD Vault and get the equipment inside. You have to use the signal locator to find it, which shouldn't be too difficult considering you just did the same in Stark Realities.

Snowy Tundra Vault Opening

The Snowy Tundra Chest is one of the more complex encounters in the Avengers Beta, but it's not too difficult once you get the hang of it. Once inside, activate the console in front of the safe door. You will get a new objective called "Passcode Authentication" which offers you a combination of numbers.

These numbers correspond to the terminals scattered around the room and you must activate them in the order given to you to open the safe. You'll only have 45 seconds to activate a terminal before it's locked, but you can reset the timer by walking in front of the safe door. AIM enemies will swarm you while you search for terminals, but you can largely ignore them while your companions protect you. Sometimes an AIM hacker will appear and Jarvis will alert you to his presence. They will start to hack into a terminal and attempt to reset your progress, so remove them ASAP.

After activating each terminal in a sequence, return to the vault door and defend the area from incoming AIM enemies. Once you've successfully defended the vault door, it's time to repeat the terminal process. You have to do this a total of three times before the safe door opens.

Once the safe door is open, you are free to loot its contents. There are tons of boxes of materials to break as well as a few chests with rare gear. Press the button at the back of the room behind all the loot to end the mission and return to the Quinjet. However, you will lose access to the Snowy Tundra region after exiting the mission.

How to get back to the snowy tundra

Fortunately, you are not forever excluded from the snowy tundra. You can return to the area by repeating the unlocking process again. Just go back to the Stark Realities mission, find the SHIELD cache with the signal locator, and open the marked chest. You will get the necessary coordinates again and the snowy tundra will reappear on the war table map. You can repeat this process as many times as you want during the Avengers Beta.
