Baldur's Gate 3 Romance Guide: How to Love Each Companion

General advice on romance

Romance isn't all about just selecting the romance option when it appears. You have to gain the favor of your lovers before you can love them. Make sure you choose the right dialogue options and the right actions to gain your companion's favor. You will be able to see who approves and disapproves of your choices in the upper left corner of the screen as you make certain decisions. You don't have to be perfect, but you won't be able to have sex with someone if they think negatively of you.

Shadowheart's Romantic Guide

Shadowheart can be fictionalized after saving Druid Halsin and completing the "Saving the Refugees" quest. Use a long rest to end the day and your party will celebrate your victory on your side. Speak to Shadowheart to begin the romantic encounter. Select the following dialogue options to successfully romanticize it.

  1. Thieves?
  2. Are you worried Shar might not approve?
  3. I would be delighted to.
  4. I'll meet you after everyone is through the night.

After you've ended the conversation and done business with the other members of your party for the night, head over to an available duvet. You will be prompted to choose between spending the night with Shadowheart or going to bed alone. Choosing Shadowheart will lead to a romantic scene.

Astarion romance guide

Astarion can be fictionalized after saving Druid Halsin and completing the "Saving the Refugees" quest. Enjoy a long rest to end the day and return to your camp. Your party will be hosting a celebration, and this is your chance to step into Astarion. Find him in your camp and select the following dialogue options.

  1. Really? Is saving lives horrible?
  2. Certainly the goblins would have thrown a wilder party.
  3. And what's your idea of "a little fun?" "
  4. Alright, let's do it. I will see you later.

Find an available bedspread and you will have the choice of going to bed alone or staying overnight with Astarion. Choosing Astarion will lead to a romantic scene. This scene isn't exactly over yet, so you'll be interrupted by an “Under Construction” screen during the encounter.

Romantic guide to Lae'zel

Lae'zel can be in love after saving Druid Halsin and completing the "Saving the Refugees" quest. Take a long rest to end the day and return to your camp. There will be a celebration in your camp, and here you can make love with Lae'zel. She's a bit simpler than the other romance options, which makes this route pretty easy. Find Lae'zel and talk to him. Choose the following dialogue options to successfully romanticize it.

  1. Are you… asking for sex?
  2. Yes. I will share my bed with you tonight.

Find an available bedspread and you have the choice of going to bed on your own or spending the night with Lae'zel. Choose Lae'zel if you want to make love to her. Like Astarion's romance, this scene is still under construction, so you won't get to see much.

Romantic Guide to Minthara

Minthara can be fictionalized if you attack the Druidic Grove and side with her and the Goblin Army. You must speak to him during the quest "Save Druid Halsin" and tell him the location of Druid Grove. Then help her and the goblins attack the colony. Once you, Minthara and the goblins have cleared the Druid Grove, there will be a celebration to commemorate your victory, but this time it will be with goblins instead of the usual Tiefling refugees.

Find Minthara during this celebration and talk to her. Select the following dialogue options to successfully romanticize it.

  1. It has been a privilege to fight alongside you.
  2. Accept the change.
  3. Open your mind.

If you say the right things, Minthara will be waiting for you to start dating. Find her and tell her you're ready. Minthara's romance scene is the only fully animated sex scene in the game right now, and there are even a skill test or two that influence how the scene unfolds.
