What is Street Cred
I brought up Cyberpunk 2077 with XP earlier for a reason, and that's because Street Cred is very similar. Think of it more as a measure of overall experience. While XP and levels show you how powerful your character has become, Street Cred shows how much of an impact he has on the world around him. As the name suggests, it measures your credibility on the street (nothing seems more nerd than breaking down terms like this, but here we are).
You can see your Street Cred at any time by opening the character menu and looking up. It sits right next to your XP level and increases at a similar rate, just for different things. And it is also used differently. As XP improves your own character abilities, Street Cred is once again more outward looking. Let's explain ...
What is Street Cred doing
Reaching a higher Street Cred level opens up a lot of new options for you in Night City and the world of Cyberpunk 2077. However, this is more of a passive element. As you level up and choose perks throughout your journey through the game, Street Cred mostly stacks up and lets you accomplish more throughout the area. Each time you earn more Street Cred you can unlock a new vendor or add items to what was available from others before. So, whenever you have more, you'll want to see what might have opened up for you. So let's see how to get more out of it.
How to get Street Cred
Also similar to XP, Street Cred is earned primarily by playing the game and completing tasks. Side missions, such as Gigs, Hustles, and Jobs are your best bet as they usually end sooner, rewarding you faster for your efforts. The more you do, the more Street Cred you will earn. Fortunately, there is a way to maximize your returns besides just focusing on finishing missions as and when you have them available to you. The Samurai Jacket will increase Street Cred earning rate by 5%, so make sure you get the Samurai Jacket as soon as you can (instructions in the linked guide) and start wearing it to make the most of your time.
