Does Everspace 2 support HOTAS

Everspace 2 fully supports HOTAS, but ROCKFISH recommends that you use a different control method.

ROCKFISH Games has built full HOTAS support into Everspace 2, but they don't recommend using one to play their game. It has to do with how flight works in Everspace 2: it's less of a simulation. traditional space and more of a six degrees of freedom (6DoF) arcadey shooter. For us older nerds, think Descent and you've got the right idea. Since players can pilot their ships with agility on each axis, a HOTAS configuration is not considered optimal.

But if you want to play Everspace 2 with a HOTAS joystick, you can. Since the launch of Early Access, Everspace 2 supports 10 popular throttle and throttle combinations with a custom preset for each. Gamers can manually create or edit joystick keyboard shortcuts in-game if they don't have a HOTAS supported or if they want to make changes to their specific preset, and these keyboard shortcuts are separate from the keyboard entries. the gamepad and mouse / keyboard. HOTAS devices with official presets are:

  • Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS X
  • Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS One
  • Thrustmaster T.Flight HOTAS 4
  • Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog
  • Thrustmaster T16000M (simple)
  • Thrustmaster T16000M (double configuration)
  • Logitech Extreme 3D Pro
  • Logitech / Saitek X56
  • Logitech / Saitek X52 Professional
  • Logitech / Saitek X52 (thanks to X52 Pro support)

For those who don't believe me when I say that Everspace 2 is better played on something other than a HOTAS setup, here's what Rockfish Games had to say about it. Steam: "While this should be sturdy enough for Early Access (but not the end product!), Joystick pilots should keep in mind that piloting a fighter in EVERSPACE 2 is more like piloting an agile assault helicopter. than a supersonic fighter plane. To defeat the ES2 villains in space, combat is more of a 360 ° two-axis precision aim and dodging enemy fire with rapid two-axis strafing as well as a quick boost to get out of the area. shooting, then lighting a dime to counter-attack. Much different from pulling barrel rolls, corkscrew loops or an Immelmann, like in dogfights in the old-fashioned atmosphere.

So feel free to play with a HOTAS you crazy for diamonds, but don't be afraid to try the other control methods if you find yourself having a hard time with your stick and throttle.
