Rocksteady Studios and Warner Bros. revealed Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League during the DC anDome Event on August 22, 2020. The event was hosted by Will Arnett and lasted approximately 20 minutes with a trailer and Q&A. The trailer is set in Metropolis and features a mix of light humor and stylistic action.
What will be the subject of the plot?
As the name suggests, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League focuses on Amanda Waller's journey to defeat the Justice League. Waller is a senior government official who works with superheroes and other people with powers, and she's often a gray character, not necessarily good or bad.
Characters include Harley Quinn, Captain Boomerang, Deadshot, and King Shark, all naturally under Waller's responsibility. Superman is the Justice League's first target, as seen in the reveal trailer. He doesn't look so friendly this time around, seeing how he outright murders a helpless person in the reveal trailer. Braniac also seems to have a presence in history.
Rocksteady's game will be set in the same universe as the Batman: Arkham series, unlike Gotham Knights.
What will the gameplay look like?
The game is a “hybrid” between Batman: Arkham's melee gameplay from Rocksteady's previous works with a bit of shooting. With the game a year or two away from its release, DC and Rocksteady haven't shown any real-time gameplay, so players will have to imagine how Task Force X uses their unique skills on their own.
Of course, players will be able to team up. Rocksteady has confirmed that single player and multiplayer players will both be in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League. In single player mode, players can switch between different characters.
What platforms will it be released on?
The game will only be released on next-gen consoles: PC, Xbox Series X, and PS5.
When will the game be released?
The DC FanDome event revealed that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is targeting a 2022 release.
