Final Fantasy XIV - How to Unlock Shadowbringer Relic Weapons, How to Earn Queen Resistance Weapons

New Relic Resistance Resistance Weapons require you to complete Ivalice raids.

You read that correctly: if you skipped or missed the Stormblood "Return to Ivalice" Alliance Raid series, you will need to double down and finish. You can be level 80 and have completed the main story of Shadowbringers, but without Ivalice you will not be able to undertake the quest "Hail to the Queen".

If you haven't completed "Return to Ivalice", head to Kugane and search for the quest "Dramatis Personae" (X: 12.2, Y: 12.3). You may need to put a day or two aside to complete the entire Raid Series (and I highly recommend watching the cutscenes if you're a fan of Final Fantasy Tactics and / or XII), but raids have seen some nerves that will make them easier to complete. That, and with anyone looking to earn their Relic Weapon this patch, it shouldn't be long before the Duty Finder finds you a group. Remember: the mechanics just for cars.

Once you have completed the final quest "Return to Ivalice" ("City of Lost Angels"), are at level 80 and you have completed the main storyline for Shadowbringers, you can return to Kugane to start the new line of Quest for the Relic Weapon (from Keiten to X: 12,2, Y: 12,3). Pick the level 80 class you want to follow in this quest chain: it's only at the very end when you pick your relic that you should be in the class you want it to be.

You may have to survive a long instanced duty to complete the "Save the Queen" questline. The good news here is that if you are defeated by one of the bosses, your progress will be saved and you can pick up that boss immediately. The bad news is that you have to complete this task in one seat - you will lose your progress if you log out or take on another task. But, it really is a glorified trust dungeon, and if you're geared above the iLvL 460, you should be fine.

Once the instance is complete, you'll complete one last minor quest and earn your first relic for free! A separate repeatable quest will be available after completing the main chain for additional Relic Weapons, and you will need to complete it as the class you chose it in. Best part of the extra Relics: The Four Thavnairian Scale Powders can be purchased for 1000 poetics from the vendors in Rowena in Idyllshire and Revenant's Toll (poetics vendor under “Special Weapons”).

Each Relic Weapon is iLvL 485, but what makes them really special are the five Baked Material Slots. Yes, these bad boys are easy to grab and take away. It makes me a little afraid of what will follow ...

Additional quests on Relic Resistance Weapons will be added in future patches, but for now it will only be the Save the Queen quest chain you need to worry about. Like all previous Relics, the complete quest line will take up a significant portion of your time during the remainder of the expansion's update cycle, so be prepared for future stages to take much, much longer than that. -this.
