How Multiplayer Works in SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated

A new multiplayer mode has been added to SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated, where you and a friend can jump into horde mode to see who survives the longest and receives the most points. You won't have to play too many options to set up a multiplayer game, as this is a simple game mode available only to you and one other player. You can ask your partner to join you online or right next to you in a local session.

You and your friend will have seven characters to choose from from SpongeBob SquarePants, Patrick, Sandy, Gary, Squidward, Mr. Krabs, and Robo Plankton. After choosing your characters, you load up the game and see a giant robotic version of Squidward spawn into robots for you to fight. You will both have to take the robots out of the wave, and the more you get out of them, the more points you will receive. Players earn points individually, so the two of you work together to survive, but you also compete for the most points.

To invite a friend to join your game, you can connect a second controller to your console or ask them to join your online session. For those who have purchased the vapor version of Rehydrate, the game offers Play Together, which means that only one person needs to own the game to play multiplayer. To use the Play Together feature, have the Rehydrate owner open their friend list while you play to send the invitation, and you can play together.

Multiplayer is not available for story mode, however. You won't be able to play the traditional campaign with a friend, but you can at least fight wave after wave of robots to see who can reach the most points.
