A USB adapter

The first step to take, if you have decided to equip your smartphone with wireless charging, is to buy a special adapter / receiver. On Amazon, for example, there are many but we tested a solution from Nillkin, a manufacturer famous for the quality of its accessories, with our Xiaomi Mi A3 which cannot rely on native wireless charging.

The adapter is available in both USB Type-C and microUSB versions, to adapt without any problem to any type of smartphone. The microUSB version is available in two variants with the wider part of the connector arranged towards the screen or towards the back cover. It will be up to you to choose the right model, remembering that the charging pad must be placed on the back cover, to which you can also attach it with the included double-sided tape.

At this point you can place your smartphone on the wireless charger and start charging it. Unlike other proprietary solutions, the Nillkin receiver is based on the IQ standard for which the maximum power is 5 watts. No fast charging therefore, but this is not necessarily a bad thing, especially to preserve the integrity of the battery.

Also check the dimensions, so that they do not cover a possible rear fingerprint reader. We have linked you to the "short" version which should not create any problems.

The best cover

Obviously using a smartphone with a piece of black plastic on the back is not the best from an aesthetic point of view. If you already use a protective cover, perhaps not transparent, you will have no problems whatsoever, since the Nillkin receiver fits practically any cover.

However, it is possible that in some cases the cover shows a slight swelling, especially if it fits perfectly. To solve the problem you can opt for a Spigen cover, in particular a model with a QNMP slot. It is a cover that has a “hollow” inside to house the metal plate necessary for fixing it in the car on a special support.

In our case, however, it turns out to be perfect for housing the Nillkin receiver, without leaving a trace. In some cases, a small bulge may remain at the bottom, near the USB connector, but it should not create any stability problems.

The wireless charger

If you haven't already bought it, the last component is obviously a wireless charger. You can indulge yourself by choosing shape, color or type. Find horizontal charging pads, on which to simply place the smartphone, or stands that allow you to hold the smartphone in an upright position, perfect for your desk. There is no shortage of power banks with wireless charging, on which you can just place your smartphone even if you do not have a power outlet available.,

And of course there are wireless car chargers, which will allow you to have your smartphone always charged even while you are traveling.
