Watts is a new currency in Pokémon Sword and Shield. You can use it to purchase useful items from Watt vendors in the game's wilderness area. These notable merchants wear white and black uniforms. You can talk to them to purchase various items, such as The MT, The Useful Poké Balls, and The Wish Coins. You can use any room you want to summon a Dynamax Pokémon to a dormant lair and engage in a Max Raid battle.
Farming Watts takes a bit of time, but you should have a variety of choices available to you during the middle part and the later part of the game. Players will still receive 50 watts when approaching a Glowing Den, but the red light will not be strong enough. This missing light means the lair does not contain Dynamax Pokémon.
However, the red dens with the glowing light that casts them have a Dynamax Pokémon, and engaging in them earns you 300 Watt. These aren't on a timer, and there isn't a limited supply. You can farm The Dynamax Pokémon dens, but it takes time because you have to fight.
You can go and collect 300 Watts, but you have to participate in the Pokémon battle to clear the lair. When you clear all available lairs, five or six more windows appear, allowing you to start over. Of all the choices, this route is probably the fastest due to how quickly you can move around the map on your Motisma bike.
When you receive your Motisma bike, you access the Motisma rally. It's a bike ride, you have to go through the wild area, go from one Watts vendor to another. You can talk to a Watts salesperson to start one, and you have a choice of how far you want to go. At Motisma Rally, you follow a direct path to Watts' other supplier, and you cannot use your boost.
Instead, you have to smash your bike through the floating balloons that give you a boost, and when you hit the bigger ones it increases your time. You want to reach the other Watts provider with as much time as possible. When you're done, you receive a set number of watts based on your performance. The longer the Motisma Rally, the more Watts you earn.
You can also earn The Watts by defeating or capturing The Pokémon surrounded by a glowing orange aura. They spawn randomly all over the wilderness and are much more powerful than other Pokémon of the same species. Trainers prefer to catch them because the aura indicates that these Pokémon have at least three perfect Individual Values (IVs) in their stats and are extremely useful in creating a Pokémon with six perfect IVs.
