During the cancellation phase within the instant messaging software, if you have unchecked the option Delete media from phone, then there is a very good chance that the files are still there. Just simply take advantage of theDefault Gallery app present in your device.



If you have deleted the media file directly in theGallery app, then you could take advantage of a built-in option to try to recover it. Indeed, some Gallery app by default, they do not completely erase the contents but move them within the Trash can.

For example, if you see a Samsung device with the latest One UI, you can access the folder Trash can opening theGallery app stocks, tapping on 3 dots at the top right and choosing Trash can from the menu that appears. Once this is done, identify the previously deleted video, tap on it and then press on rotating dart present at the bottom left to restore it correctly.

The methods reported in the last lines unfortunately had no effect and therefore look for a further solution that you can exploit. In this case, we recommend that you try to recover deleted clips using a backup. Obviously, to take advantage of this method it is necessary to have previously activated the automatic backup function on Google Drive or on the internal memory of the Android smartphone.

That said, open theWhatsApp app, press on 3 dots at the top right and choose Settings. Once done, tap on Chat, choose Backup of chats and refer to the time and date in the section Last backup. Of course, to be able to restore deleted videos, the backup must have been done before the day of deletion.



At this point, you can proceed with the restoration by uninstalling theWhatsApp app through Settings of Android, then proceeding with the installation from the Google Play Store and performing the initial configuration making sure to select the confirmation button from the message to restore the last backup made.


Remember that by following this procedure, you may lose all messages exchanged within WhatsApp after backup. Once the restoration is complete, open the conversation of the contact who sent you the video, press on 3 dots at the top right and choose Media from the menu that appears. Inside the card Media you will find the previously deleted video.

If you have made a backup of the videos, present on your Android device, on the cloud, you will need to access the latter service to proceed with the recovery. If you have used Google Photos to make the backup, you can refer to theWhatsApp Video album present inside the card Album.


In case you had used OneDriveinstead, you will simply have to refer to the card Fillet and identify the folder WhatsApp Video. Alternatively, press on Me at the bottom right and then tap on Trash can if you have previously moved all files to the trash.

For dropbox, take a look at the main screen or use the Trash function available, however, only from the website. Just connect to the web portal, log in with your credentials (by entering email e Password), click on 3 dashes at the top left and choose Fillet. Once this is done, press again on 3 dashes and choose Recently deleted. Through the proposed screen, locate the video to be recovered, press on its icon and choose Restore.
