Instagram: who can see our photos

The theme of privacy, in the period we are experiencing, it is always current seen and considered as the amount of data generated and disseminated by us becomes increasingly large and, in some cases, confidential. Of course, reserved and widespread are words that almost contradict each other, but it is also true that you can decide to share sensitive data to a close circle of trusted people, in order to maintain a certain confidentiality.

One of the most popular practices lately is to publish snapshots of what you are doing, using channels created specifically for this purpose. Instagram Stories, for example, it allows you to capture photos and videos to share immediately with our followers, thus creating real stories relating to our days. What you may not know, however, is that these stories can also be seen by those who are not part of your followers if the privacy settings are not properly adjusted.

Who sees my photos?

Let's clarify immediately that, when creating the account, the default settings allow anyone with an internet connection to look at the photos on our profile. Do you want proof? Try to go to the official Instagram profile with your browser even from incognito browsing. As you can see, you will be able to view the posted images, the number of likes for each one and easily read the comments.

How to avoid, therefore, that anyone has the opportunity to look at the profile and everything I publish? Nothing could be simpler, just access the page relating to your profile, go to the settings via the 3 dots at the top right and set your account as private. At this point, only your followers will be able to view the content you generated.

The same goes for the famous ones Stories. Once your profile has been made private, these will no longer be viewable by users outside the circle of your followers.

Are there any apps that can bypass this protection?

No, you can rest assured, at the moment there are no applications or services able to extrapolate and show our data protected from the private account to users who are not followers or not subscribed to Facebook. As already mentioned, once you have set up the private account to find out who can look at your photos, just search among your followers.

Given the massive use of similar services, it is legitimate to ask whether those who see my profile can escape my control and, therefore, access my content to make the use they want without my knowledge. Fortunately, Instagram provides the right solution for those looking for this kind of protection.
