The MioDottore online platform has awarded the most appreciated professionals in the medical sector with the MioDottore Awards 2021. The awards, now in their fourth edition, were assigned on the evaluations of colleagues and patients. Here is who the winners are.
MioDottore Awards 2021: the Italian edition
For the fourth consecutive year My Doctor, a leading online booking platform for medical visits and part of the Docplanner group, has awarded its annual awards. We are talking about the MioDottore Awards 2021, which value and recognize the quality of the work of the affiliated professionals. The recognition, unique of its kind, takes into account the evaluations expressed by patients and colleagues. The Italian 2021 edition has seen well 32 winning doctors, in the respective categories of specialization. These are: allergology, andrology and urology, anesthesia, angiology and vascular surgery, cardiology, general surgery and proctology, plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery, dermatology, dietician-dietician-nutrition, endocrinology, hepatology and gastroenterology, physiotherapy, physiatry, gynecology, speech therapy , sports medicine, aesthetic medicine, internal medicine, neurosurgery, neurology, dentistry and orthodontics, ophthalmology, orthopedics, osteopathy-acupuncture-chiropractic, ENT, pediatrics, pneumology, podiatry, psychiatry, psychology-psychotherapy-sexology, radiology and diagnostic radiology and finally rheumatology.
Lazio is the region with the most medical excellence
The region with the greatest number of medical excellences is Lazio, with over a fifth (22%) of the awarded professionals and all concentrated in Rome. Continuing in second and third place for the number of winners, Sicily and Lombardy are classified, with 6 and 5 awarded doctors respectively. In particular, among the Sicilian doctors, three operate in Catania and its province, one in Agrigento, one in Palermo and one in Caltanissetta. Instead, among the Lombard specialists, two are located in Milan and its province, one in Como, one in Bergamo and one in the province of Monza.
Some doctors are confirmed again this year in first place in their specializations: Doctor Valerio Sebastiano Amico, physiatrist of Catania, the Doctor Daniela Barberini, speech therapist from Rome, Dr. Gaetano Ricignolo internist from Florence, Dr. Miguel Rechichi ophthalmologist from Catanzaro and Doctor Cesare Arezzo, pulmonologist from Taranto.
MioDottore Awards 2021: one third of the winners are women
In this edition, almost a third (31%) of the winners are women. Among them four doctors are located in Lazio, two in Sicily, two in Sardinia, one in Lombardy and one in Calabria. The doctors work in the following categories of specialization: allergology, dietician-dietetics-nutrition, speech therapy, sports medicine, aesthetic medicine, neurology, dentistry and orthodontics, otolaryngology, podiatry and psychology-psychotherapy-sexology.

The 32 winners of the MioDottore Awards 2021
The selection of the winners, in first phase of the initiative, took into account the opinion of patients: the specialists nominated for the MioDottore Awards, in fact, were selected on the basis of the number and quality of judgments obtained, on the basis of punctuality, attention to the patient and quality of the medical office. There second stage, on the other hand, it saw professionals belonging to the same categories of specialization called upon to express an opinion on the colleagues appointed, according to other elements, such as professionalism, experience and professional curriculum, leveraging their medical skills. Finally, the decisive selection was guided by the total number of positive opinions collected among users, the votes of colleagues in specialization and the contribution of the specialist to the resolution of doubts or questions in the "Ask the Doctor" section.
