Smash Ultimate Sephiroth Challenge: How to get Sephiroth early

How to start the Sephiroth challenge in Super Smash Bros Ultimate

To start the Sephiroth challenge, make sure your game is updated to the latest version. Next, the Sephiroth challenge will appear in the upper left corner of the Super Smash Bros Ultimate main menu. This limited-time event only runs until December 22, after which Sephiroth will be unlocked for all players.

Selecting the challenge from the main menu will take you to a single screen featuring Sephiroth. You will have the choice between three difficulty levels: Easy, Normal and Very difficult. Selecting a lower difficulty doesn't penalize you in any way, so feel free to choose Easy to get Sephiroth early without breaking a sweat. On Very Hard, however, he's going to fight, which should be a fun experience for seasoned Smashers. Once you beat him, Sephiroth will be unlocked for use in any game mode with his new stage, Northern Cave. However, you must have the Challenger Pack 8 or the Fighters Pass Volume 2 to get it.

How to beat Sephiroth

Sephiroth is a tough opponent, but he is not invincible. You can easily beat him if you tap into your strengths and take advantage of his weaknesses. Your main goal during combat should be to avoid his long-range sword blows. Scope is Sephiroth's best tool, so don't let him use it against you. If you see it charging a projectile, be prepared to reflect it if you have a reflector. Additionally, most of his attacks are slow and make him vulnerable to counterattacks, so be prepared to punish him if he senses an attack. Finally, you can simply select the Easy difficulty to make combat a breeze.

To recap, here are some tips for beating Sephiroth

  • Beware of his long range attacks.
  • Reflect its projectiles.
  • Use its slowness to your advantage.
  • Play on Easy difficulty.

After defeating Sephiroth, you'll unlock him and be able to play with him before the official release date. Northern Cave will be added to your scene roster and new Final Fantasy VII music tracks will also be unlocked. If you'd rather not bother fighting him, you'll just have to wait a few days for the Sephiroth DLC to be officially released.

Super Smash Bros Ultimate is now available on Nintendo Switch. Sephiroth is available now if you can beat the Sephiroth challenge, and it will be available on December 22 for everyone.
