Warlords of New York - How Talents Work in The Division 2

Warlords of New York - How Talents Work in The Division 2

Talents are largely on chest pieces, backpacks, and weapons.

Gone are the swathes of talent littering your gear in The Division 2, with talent now residing primarily in backpacks, chest pieces, and weapons. Talents can be found on Top, Top, and Top loot.

Gear sets will also be affected by this change, but their chest piece and backpack talents work a little differently. These are designed to amplify and enhance the four-piece bonus, making talents found on other drops more appealing if you're comfortable with the original four-piece bonus.

There are a few caveats to this rule in Warlords of New York: Named Items and Exotics. Named item equipments will no longer have talents and will have an improved stat beyond normal limits or a stat that is not normally found on that item type instead. Exotics will always have their signature talent, whoever they are.

The requirements for unlocking talents in The Division 2 have also disappeared. You will no longer be held hostage by your stat rolls, as you can now have any mix of red, blue, or yellow stats you want without worrying about whether they activate your talents or not.

The idea behind the revamp of Warlords of New York and Gear 2.0 is simple: All gear should have an impact, and by limiting these gameplay enhancements to certain pieces of gear, players can create more diverse builds. It's a bit of a divisive source, sure, but it should pave the way for building in the endgame of The Division 2. Plus, you can always revive your gear with the new recalibration library if you want to.
