Subscription services have gradually become the new way to receive your latest form of entertainment. Over the years, video game companies created similar formants and EA had services called EA and Origin Access. The first was for console platforms and the second for PC gamers. EA tries to rename them to a single umbrella called EA Play. Those who have a subscription to one of these services will not have to do anything to reform, but it will now be called EA Play. Are there any changes going on?
What were the Origin and EA access?
With EA or Origin Access, subscribers had preliminary trials on new EA games, received a 10% discount on all digital versions, and had instant access to a library of EA games. They were both priced at $ 4,99 per month or $ 29,99 per year. Origin Access had a higher tier called Premier which was available for $ 14,99 per month or $ 99,99 per year.
EA Play - What's changing?
Origin and EA Access are in the process of becoming EA Play, and other than the name, there isn't much different. The premium version of Origin Access, Origin Access Primer, will be called EA Play Pro.
The subscription service will remain the same, the payouts are the same, the games are still here, and there will be even more to come to the platform, such as exclusive in-game challenges and monthly rewards for subscribers. EA hints at even more games coming to the EA Play library in the coming months.
When is EA Play released?
The transition will take place on August 18. The previous names of these subscription services will become the new title. You can expect some speculation from players as to what will happen next. Considering that EA opened up their entire Origin library to Steam, while still using their Origin launcher, this is likely a way to motivate gamers to get more into the EA game pool. The wider access to its games has allowed more players to try out titles they've never bothered to try, such as Dragon Age: Inquisition.
