With Solstice of Heroes currently underway in Destiny 2, there is a mechanic that isn't really well explained in the game, but all players should be aware of it. It is solar empowerment. You can also enjoy the Arc and Void Empowerment.
During the Solstice of Heroes event, all kills on enemies will spawn Elemental Orbs that match the element type of what killed them. Solar kills generate solar orbs, empty kills generate empty orbs, etc.
Each day also has a daily item, which you can check on your main inventory screen. This will change every day, so be sure to check that you are spawning the right type of Orbs to take advantage of the Empowerment Buff.
If you collect orbs that match the element of the day, you will get a stack of elemental charges. When you reach 30 stacks, you will become empowered, achieving the effect detailed below until all the stacks burn out, which takes about 30 seconds. A stack will be removed roughly every second after you hit 30 and get the Empowerment buff, so be sure to use that while you have it.
Solar Element Buff
- Equip your solar subclass and weapons to generate solar orbs. Then collect them to use their solar elemental power. While empowered, Guardians emit a wave of searing energy that damages everything around them.
Elemental Void Buff
- Equip your subclass and Void Weapons to generate Void Orbs. Then collect them to use their Void Elemental Power. Crouch while being able to become invisible and benefit from True Sight plus enhanced ability regeneration.
Arc Elemental Buff
- Equip your Arc subclass and weapons to generate Arc Orbs. Then collect them to use their Arc elemental power. When empowered, Guardians move with improved speed and deal more melee and sword damage.
