Who is Ash and what does it mean for the future of Apex Legends?

In the final mission of the Broken Ghost questline, Apex Legends players were faced with a number of twists and turns, the most important of which was that the robotic head they had meticulously assembled all season does not actually belong to the former body of Revenant. It belongs to Ash, another memento from the events of Titanfall 2, and one who may bring a lot of changes to Apex Legends going forward.

Who was Ash in Titanfall 2?

Players first encountered Ash during the single-player campaign of Titanfall 2. As a member of Kuben Blisk's mercenary Apex Predators outfit, Ash was one of the protagonists of the mini-bosses that Jack Cooper faces in the game. fight. Prior to this direct encounter and his subsequent defeat, Ash demonstrates his sadistic nature by disobeying Blisk's order to kill Cooper quickly, and forcing his career through a gauntlet of controlled environments and robotic minions.

It is not known if Ash was always the person she is during the events of Titanfall 2, as her flesh and blood past is a mystery to everyone. We don't know what she did prior to her induction into the Apex Predators, otherwise it ended up destroying her human body, turning her into a sham.

However, we do know that Ash survived his encounter with Cooper, his body rebuilt a second time by gunmaker Vinson Dynamics who then put him in charge of leading their private militia. Her latest appearance is in the mobile strategy game Titanfall: Assault, where she has the ability to block damage with a Vortex shield and can take control of enemy robotic units. However, these abilities are fairly little known and likely won't play out in future iterations of Ash that we may encounter.

How does Ash relate to Apex Legends?

Until her surprise revealed at the end of the Broken Ghost quest, Ash was absent from the Apex Legends universe. We did, however, have two small tangential connections. One was Kuben Blisk, who is the creator of the Apex Games competing players. The other is the fact that Revenant is also a sham. Prior to Revenant's release, some in the community believed that the skeletal mock that would come to the game was actually Ash.

Will Ash be a playable legend?

According to the craziest theory currently circulating in the Apex Legends community, she already is. Some believe that Wraith is Ash, who underwent a third rebirth of sorts, one in which his consciousness was transplanted from the mock shell into a new human body. This would explain why Wraith has the same phase-based abilities as Ash, and why she has no recollection of her past until she wakes up in a secret science facility. This theory is reinforced by one of Wraith's skins which shows him in a robotic body, with a face plate that vaguely resembles Ash's Death Mask.

The serious answer is that Ash likely won't be a playable legend anytime soon, if ever. The respawn was very effective in distinguishing Apex Legends' timeline and events from those in Fall of the Titans, and will almost certainly introduce a lot of new original characters before recycling an old one like Ash - as iconic as it is.

We'll learn more about Ash in the upcoming season 6 of Apex Legends. The next part of the story will also reveal more about Lifeline and Octane's shared past.
