“You may receive the 0x7E stop error in nwifi.sys with a blue screen when trying to use a Wi-Fi Protected Access 3 (WPA3) connection,” Microsoft wrote in the warning. “You are more likely to encounter this problem when reconnecting to a Wi-Fi network after disconnection, or when waking your PC from sleep or hibernation. Note: Most Wi-Fi networks currently use WPA2 and are not affected ”.
The bug fix is contained in the Windows 10 update KB5001028, currently being released through Windows Update.
If you are unable to connect to an internet network for direct download to your PC, the fix is available for download as a package from the Microsoft Update catalog.
This update is just one of many that Microsoft is releasing to fix the most serious problems encountered in Windows 10, such as the NTFS volume corruption bug that can lead to user data loss.
