When trying to install a hardware driver, the operating system reads the Setup Information File (or .inf file) which contains information on how the driver should be installed.
In the latest build of Windows 10 Insider Preview available in the development channel Dev, Microsoft has added a new feature to Device Manager that will notify you if there are other devices using it if you try to uninstall a driver.
Not only that, the warning suggests setting Device Manager to a new view which groups hardware "by driver" and according to the .inf files in use. This will allow users to check which devices are using the same driver making it easier to completely uninstall them in case of problems.
Most likely, these changes will only be available to everyone starting in the fall of this year, which is when the highly anticipated update is publicly released Windows 10 21H2 also known by the name of Sun Valley.
