Obviously, for users who want to choose independently how to use their hardware, Microsoft has prepared a special menu in which to decide which of the two GPUs to activate. To change the GPU used in Windows 10 you just need:

  • Go to Settings
  • Go to the Display item
  • In the Graphics Settings there will be a drop-down menu where you can specify the GPU to use.

Windows 10 allows this type of choice starting with build 20190, now available through the Insider Preview Program. It may be that in some applications in the operating system it is not able to decide for itself the most suitable GPU for your use. No fear, Microsoft will soon allow the choice of GPU to be used based on the application.

This type of configuration will give users more control over their computer, especially allowing laptops usually equipped with two GPUs to manage their battery life better or unleash all their power if necessary.

What do you think of this Windows breakthrough? Did you already use this type of GPU app setup with your PC via proprietary technologies from Nvidia or AMD?
