5 best (and 5 worst) bugs, glitches and achievements of 2019

To celebrate the end of 2019, we're taking a look at the best and the worst bugs. From duping in Destiny 2 to disappearing inventories in Fallout 76, there were a lot of good and bad technical issues popping up from online servers, complex engines, or just unexpected old-fashioned interactions. There's a lot to love when it comes to video games, but we can all celebrate when the developers crush everything on this list.

Best | Get a Free Exotic (Destiny 2)

Exotics are everything, and this weird 2019 glitch allowed players - for a very short time - to claim a bonus Exotic Engram. Exotic Engrams always give you an Exotic Pistol that you don't have yet, making them incredibly valuable rewards. Many Exotics also take days (if not weeks) of grinding to unlock. A free exotic basically gets a jackpot.

The method has been fixed a long time ago, but it was originally discovered by the secret hunt freaks at r / RaidSecrets - a community of finding the items hidden within. Normally they don't focus on exploits, but this one was just too good to pass up. You can find out all about how it worked on our Free Full Exotic Explanation here, but the basics involve logging into the Season of Undying website and claiming a level 98 reward - which is normally an Exotic Engram. Even though you've claimed it once before, after the season ended, it was briefly possible to claim another Exotic Engram. Free! Now that's a pretty amazing reward.

Worse | Premium inventory disappears (Fallout 76)

2019 has not been a good year for. Instead of rallying around and becoming the game that fans wanted, it instead swerved and kicked off a new premium service that received some pretty strong negative feedback from fans. Fallout 1st is a paid subscription that unlocks two highly requested features - Private Servers and Unlimited Storage. If only the unlimited storage feature really worked.

In one of the biggest nonsense of the year, many subscribers returned to their unlimited storage vaults only to find that every item was gone. The developers at Bethesda warned that this was only a visual bug, and that it was still possible to recover lost items - at least, if the items reappeared. Bethesda developers were unable to return the lost items. Not because they didn't want to - but because they just couldn't. The engine couldn't handle it. Later, when Sorrows found a way to steal entire player inventories in PVP, players found themselves completely unlucky. No recovery of lost items. It really sucks.
