Call of Duty

Finest Hour was primarily an expansion of the first game, but this time developed for home consoles. Roads to Victory is the only game in the series developed for the PlayStation Portable and again featured three campaigns for American, British and Canadian soldiers during WWII. A multiplayer mode was also available for local wireless play with up to six people.

Modern Warfare 2 picks up where the first left off as the story of Soap and Price continues, this time dealing with Zakhaev's underlying Vladimir Makarov and the betrayal of General Shepherd. Some of the most iconic moments in the Call of Duty franchise took place in this campaign, starting, of course, with the controversial “No Russian” mission. Multiplayer has also built on what the old game introduced with new kill streaks and perks for players to have fun.

Mobilized is a companion game released alongside Modern Warfare 2 for the Nintendo DS. It brings a new story focused on preventing the launch of a nuclear weapon in the Middle East. The first Black Ops campaign centers on the story of Alex Mason, a CIA agent who was captured and brainwashed by the Soviets in Vorkuta, Russia. Much of the story is a tale of the missions he unknowingly went on alongside his late friend Viktor Reznov.

Zombie Mode has grown thanks to the success established in World At War, bringing a connection story with many new features. As for the multiplayer, it was filled with Cold War-era weapons and big killstreaks that made some of the best battles in Call of Duty. Add iconic maps like Nuketown and you have one of the best games in the series.

The Modern Warfare trilogy finale ended Soap and Price's story while hunting down Makarov at the start of World War III. Accessible multiplayer continued its streak of quality maps, perks, and kill streaks that felt good to pull off.

Black Ops 3 takes place in 2065, 40 years after Black Ops 2, at the start of a new Cold War. In Zombies, the original cast are back, but are different versions of themselves compared to other timelines. By this point, Call of Duty had become more of a sci-fi shooter than a military ground shooter. This is why WWII attempted to trace the series back to its roots and featured a prominent appearance by Josh Duhamel. It was a welcome return to a region that Call of Duty hadn't visited in quite some time and that was far better received than Infinite Warfare.

Multiplayer hasn't done a ton of different things either. It was very focused on classic Call of Duty gameplay, with a few new game modes being the most notable changes.
