Amazon Pantry closes forever

On the official page on the well-known e-commerce site we read “The Amazon Pantry service will be interrupted on Tuesday 30 June at 23:59. You will still be able to place an order on Amazon Pantry before this date and your order will be delivered normally".
The service was dedicated to all Amazon Prime subscribers, but evidently did not have the hoped-for success. In reality, no reasons were given for the decision to close the service. The only confirmed news is that products sold through Pantry will be available directly on Amazon.it. During the pandemic and the lockdown, many users turned to Amazon Pantry for essential survival products at home. At that time, shopping online was almost impossible.
How does Amazon Pantry work?
To buy on Amazon Pantry you need to do an order of at least € 15, to which it is applied a fixed shipping cost of € 4,99. However, the latter can be reset by purchasing five items that are part of a promotional selection, or if the cost reaches € 90. For delivery, Amazon indicates a period ranging from 3 to 5 working days.
After Pantry closes, items will become available on Amazon.it with faster delivery and no minimum order value, unlike in the past.

Immediately, Amazon itself suggests switching to the Prime Now home shopping service. However, the latter is only available in the cities of Milan, Rome and Turin. Unlike Pantry, Prime Now delivers in several more immediate time windows. At a price of € 7,99, delivery is made within one hour, while with € 3,49 within two hours. The minimum order must be € 15 (per shop) and after spending € 50, delivery is free (with the exception of immediate delivery).
