How To Use College Teams In MLB Franchise Mode: The Show 20

Thanks to the small, creative user community for MLB: The Show 20, players are now able to turn the game of professional baseball into a college experience. Since it is not offered by the developer, Sony San Diego, it will take some time to go through the process of customizing each team. However, once the process is complete, you will have the first (unofficial) varsity baseball game from EA. MVP 07: NCAA Baseball.

First of all, it's worth mentioning that you won't have to worry about creating a roster of all the NCAA baseball players. Instead, you'll want to go to the in-game Community Vault and search for a file named "30 Team College Rosters" by a user named "o0oLSUTigerso0o". It should be one of the first to appear, as it is one of the most downloaded files in the game.

After loading the rosters into your game, switch to franchise mode and where you choose teams. Now in this file, each team has a particular set of college players. So you'll want to click on R1, in that menu, to customize each MLB team.

How to customize each team

After pressing R1 on each team and knowing who they should be, click on the “Create a new custom team” option. From there, you can customize each school as you like, including the uniforms. Using the Logo Vault, you can search and download each school's logo and place them on the jerseys. Once each team is personalized, they'll ask you to save each, and you'll want to use them for any future franchises you create.

After about an hour, you should have the top 30 playable varsity baseball teams in franchise mode. From what we've seen, each player's rating is incredibly detailed and accurate in terms of their performance in real games. It's worth noting that it's likely MLB: The Show 20 will be compatible with PlayStation 5, so you can take that experience to the next generation, at least in theory.
