One year after having marketed the Elettrica in its equivalent 50 cm3 version, Piaggio is ready to launch the second model, the Vespa Elettrica 2020, more powerful and that can reach a maximum speed of 70 km / h.
This new model strengthens the range of electric scooters of the Italian manufacturer in parallel with the 50 cm3 model that appeared just a year ago. The Vespa Elettrica 2020 unveiled for the first time by Piaggio at EICMA 2019 differs from its little sister by providing only one specific stylistic detail, or lshock absorber spring painted in red. Aside from this hallmark, the two versions are identical from a design point of view.

Vespa Elettrica 2020, with wings under your feet for 100 km
On a technical level, the Vespa electric Power logically inherits an original Piaggio electric propulsion (engine block, vehicle management system and battery compartment). The brushless motor delivers an energy value of 3,6 kW (4 kW peak) for a torque of 200 Nm. It is powered by a battery, the latter maintains the dimensions and weight unchanged compared to the first Vespa Elettrica which reached a maximum speed of 45 km / h . The directly integrated charging cable, positioned under the seat, allows the battery to be regenerated in 4 hours via a standard wall socket. The “Ride By Wire” electronic throttle control manages the distribution of the engine. You just have to press the MAP button on the right side of the handlebar to choose between the two riding modes: Eco or Power. The first limits the speed to 45 km / h (30 km / h for the 50 cm3 model), the second spreads all the power to reach 70 km.h at its maximum speed. We must also remember the presence of the "Reverse" mode, which is nothing more than a reverse gear that facilitates static maneuvers.
Mine stays, but the price goes up
Like its little sister, the new model benefits of the multimedia platform called Mia. This fully connected system allows you to connect your smartphone to the TFT dashboard. The 4,3-inch screen has a number of functions (driving mode selected, speed, charge indicator, remaining range and trip odometer). In addition, the brightness adjusts according to the ambient light.
Vespa Elettrica 2020 is ready to be delivered to the dealer network as soon as the emergency situation due to the coronavirus stabilizes. The price is € 6.710, which means € 300 more than the 50cc version without state incentives.
