Xiaomi Pocophone F1 vs Honor Play: features compared

Some brands have become famous for theirs low cost and theirs High performance, a combination that for many has been deemed difficult to achieve for a long time. Now it has become an easy field for many brands Chinese, such as the Honor. The latter produced cell phones that, while giving a similar power to a Samsung workhorse, made their device cost much less - something that never exceeds 400 euros. A curious latest model of this house is theHonor Play, a model dedicated to gamers.

Recently, however, there is a lot of talk about a new Smartphone, the Xiaomi Pocophone F1. This is also a latest generation mobile phone, but with a very low cost. According to many, it is the perfect counterpart to the iPhone X, offering all the benefits of Android on the inside.

This is why it seems natural to think about one thing: which of the two is the best? Which mobile phone can currently conquer the podium of best Smartphone, if compared?

Thus we begin to analyze, side by side, all aspects of both Smartphones and where they prevail the most.

Let's start with the look, and therefore the Design. The point is that these two phones have a whole other idea in mind: the Pocophone F1 is created to imitate the iPhone X and the Honor Play is created to imitate a Gamer Phone like that of Razer. Therefore, a person who is used to seeing one design style better will prefer one or the other. But if we want to talk about a general idea, the Pocophone F1 is the one that presents itself best. Its style is elegant, but basically it is mostly "borrowed" from more famous smartphones.

But when we start putting this cell phone in hand, things change. All his beautiful look stops at the plastic with which he is covered: from an economic sense, not exactly refined as at first glance. The Honor Play instead sits better on our palm, thanks to an integral metal shell. It gives a decidedly more solid feel, although it must be said that the Pocophone has a splash resistant screen.

Both mobiles exhibit a very good screen, with a slight difference in resolution but with an equal PPI density. The viewing quality is almost identical.

The differences certainly start on the performance, However. The Honor Play has a Kirin 970 chipset with 4Gb of RAM (but you can find it as 6Gb). This chipset is weaker than the Snapdragon 845, which is also found with as little as 6Gb of RAM in the Pocophone F1. Therefore there is really not much to discuss, in this field it is the Xiaomi mobile phone that prevails.

The only thing that makes the Honor Play slightly more interesting is the GPU Turbo function, which increases the performance of the video card to make games more satisfying. Unfortunately this particular option is only optimized for some games and doesn't work in all titles. Finally, as already said, it is valid only for games and not for any other general activity.

Let's talk about the now cameras. Both have a dual sensor. In the case of the Pocophone, this is from 12Mpx. In the case of the Honor Play, they are from 16Mpx. The speech seems obvious from the start but let's not really stop there. If we want to discuss the sensor, we can in fact say that the Pocophone has a better device. It is possible to take slightly more detailed photos of the Honor Play. However, Xiaomi cannot offer a level of software improvement that the Honor Play offers. The App is in fact packed with features and the Kirin 970 chipset has an integrated mode for passive recognition of details to improve. Generally, therefore, the Honor Play wins, even if you have to know how to exploit its functions.

We finally arrive and discuss the Software. Here, too, the Honor shows a long experience. The EmotionUI is a stable and feature-rich operating system - perhaps too much for some users - and has a well-chosen RAM optimization. The same cannot be said of MIUI, the Xiaomi operating system, which has inside advertisements that appear every now and then. Definitely annoying, even if the operating system itself is very free. But the Honor Play easily prevails.

So let's cut it short: which of two is really the best? If you notice, the Pocophone F1 only manages to win in a couple of fields, while everything else is also far too easy for the Honor Play. The only things that the Xiaomi smartphone manages to do better are performance, but these are lost among the shortcomings of the operating system and other matters. At least until a new model comes out that will take care of all these problems, theHonor Play is the clear winner.
