All the latest from Apple and what to expect by the end of the year

Apple On Tuesday, April 20, he held his long-awaited spring conference, in which he presented some news that will characterize the first half of 2021. Among the new products we find the colorful iMacs equipped with M1 chips, A new iPad Pro extremely performing and the long-awaited Apple AirTag. Let's find out in detail all the news presented by Apple and those that, instead, we must expect for the second half of the year.

New from Apple: the new iMacs equipped with the M1 chip

We expected them from the announcement of the new Macs last year: the new incredible iMacs equipped with the M1 chip. Although Apple has long accustomed us to very thin products, with the new iMacs the company has raised the bar even further. I am incredibly thin. And incredibly colorful!

In fact, they are available in seven colors - blue, green, pink, silver, yellow, orange and purple - and they are only thick 11,5 millimeters. Yes, you read that correctly. Virtually little more than an iPad Pro. The reduced thickness was possible thanks to the M1 chip, incredibly powerful, which integrates processor, graphics, memory and other components on a single circuit, thus saving a lot of space.

A minimal design in full Apple style

From a design standpoint, the new iMacs are extremely clean and minimal. On the front, in fact, also thanks to the removal of the iconic bitten apple logo, we find only a white frame that encloses a 24-inch retina display with 4.5K resolution, 11,3 million pixels and a brightness of 500 nits, and a FaceTime HD camera with 1080p resolution accompanied by a professional quality microphone. On the back, however, there are due port Thunderbolt ultra speed, two USB 3 ports - on some models only - and the input for the power supply with magnetic coupling.

The incredible power of the new iMacs, as anticipated, is thanks to the Apple M1 chip, the same also present in the MacBook and Mac Mini presented last year. The integrated processor is eight-core, with four “performance” and four “efficiency” cores. Depending on the model chosen, one can be combined Seven or eight-core GPU. Regarding the RAM memory you can choose between 8GB and 16GB, and the internal memory is configurable up to 1TB. The audio system cannot be missing, consisting of six hi-fi speakers with two woofers capable of supporting spatial audio. As for connectivity, the new iMacs come with Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0.

Apple wanted to do things even bigger by pairing with the new iMacs seven different colors for the keyboard - Magic Keyboard -, and the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad pointers. The keyboard is very similar to the previous versions, but it has an extremely useful novelty: incorporates a fingerprint sensor.

The new iMacs are available for pre-order starting April 30, with delivery in the second half of May, starting from 1499 euros.

The new iPad Pro with M1 chip

Apple is aware of the incredible power of its chip, so much so that it is inserted in as many products as possible. During the conference the long awaited - and anticipated - iPad Pro equipped with M1 chip. The new device is available in two variants: with 11-inch Liquid Retina display e 12,9-inch Liquid Retina XDR display, for an even more spectacular view. Both have anti-reflective coating and a maximum brightness of 600 nits.

The M1 chip is the same present in the other Apple devices, therefore equipped with an eight-core processor and an eight-core GPU. iPad Pro comes with 8GB RAM in the 128GB, 256GB and 512GB models, while 16GB in the 1TB and 2TB ones.

To complete the specifications we find a professional camera system, with 12MP wide-angle and 10MP ultra-wide angle and the LIDAR sensor. The front camera, also ultra-wide angle, is 12MP. You can't miss Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, Bluetooth 5.0, optional 5G connectivity, Face ID and the very useful Thunderbolt port to recharge the device and connect external peripherals and monitors.

Aesthetically, iPad Pro remains the same as previous models, but the work Apple has done under the hood is virtually unprecedented, improving performance by 50% for the processor and 40% for the GPU. Productivity with this device will never be the same again. iPad Pro is in pre-order from April 30, with delivery in the second half of May, starting from 899 euros.
