Back in June, we got to see a genius hacker successfully installing Android Auto on a Tesla unofficially, and all users can now enjoy their Android apps in their car. Indeed, the developer of the popular AAWireless, which allows wireless connection to Android Auto, has finally found a way to make the two systems work in perfect harmony.

Thanks to a new application named TeslAA, Tesla owners will be able to enjoy Android Auto using the vehicle's default Internet browser. The application is unfortunately not free, sinceyou will have to pay 4,99 euros to get it.

How to install Android Auto in a Tesla?

To use Android Auto in your Tesla, you must first install the mobile app from the Google Play Store, then connect your smartphone to the car's bluetooth system. Next, you will need to create a mobile hotspot on the phone and connect the Tesla to it, then go to androidwheels.com in the Tesla web browser.

Thanks to Android Auto, you can now have access to applications such as Google Maps, YouTube Music or Waze. However, not everything is fully functional, since the developer advises you for the moment not to charge your phone in induction when using Android Auto, at the risk of overheating.

It also cautions that you might experience some slowdowns if you're not using a high-end Android device. You may also meet display problems if your car uses the rear view camera. Your Tesla may even disconnect from the Wi-Fi hotspot when your phone loses signal for a long time.

As this is currently a beta, it is hoped that these problems will be fixed in future versions of the application. As a reminder, this application bypasses the official limitations set by Tesla, you will therefore not be able to turn to the manufacturer in the event of a problem.
