Candy Crush is about to host a new event dedicated to the Space Jam 2 movie, which should arrive in Italian cinemas in September. Historically, external collaborations are rare in the famous mobile game, but this time the guys at King.com seem to want to make an exception to the rule.
Candy Crush: Space Jam 2 event arrives
The new event will start on July 6th, the date on which the Space Jam 2 film will arrive in American cinemas, and according to the press release published by the company there will be a small story mode that will star Lebron James, the basketball star protagonist of the film.
The athlete will have to free the Looney Tunes trapped in the kingdom of candy, while the event will be available to all players who have passed level 25. All those who participate will be able to obtain the classic items that are usually distributed in this type of events, such as upgrades or items useful to complete the scenarios, but also exclusive content related to the world of Space Jam.
There is also a season pass dedicated to collaboration, which will allow users to collect basketballs for the settings and thus unlock even more prizes than normal. We are faced with a rather bizarre crossover, but which seems to have been made with some care.
It is likely that for the occasion the game will see a considerable injection of new players, especially when we consider how much Lebron is loved as an athlete. Candy Crush on the other hand already has millions of active users all over the world and it wouldn't be strange if the event went viral.
That said, collaborative events are still quite a novelty for Candy Crush, so how it will be received by regular users of the game is still to be seen. In the coming weeks we will certainly have a clearer picture of the results of this experiment.
