A design with soft lines

To characterize the new Moto G6 Play we find a rather robust body - with a thickness of 9 mm and a weight of 175 grams -, rounded corners and soft lines, elements that make the device pleasant to the touch and all in all very comfortable to handle.

The front is mostly occupied by the 5,7-inch display with HD + resolution (720 x 1440 pixels) and 18: 9 ratio, while in the upper range there is the 8 megapixel front camera with LED flash.

The back cover, on the other hand, renounces the glass, present instead on the Moto G6 Plus, to leave room for plastic. However, the treatment is designed to deceive the eye, thus offering a pleasant mirrored effect. But beware of fingerprints: Moto G6 Play does not forgive and you will often find yourself cleaning the back of the device.

Finally, we end the overview with the main camera from 13 megapixel - in relief, as Motorola has accustomed us by now - and with the fingerprint reader, quick and evident both to the eye and to the touch.

Performance, software and battery

Moto G6 Play it is proposed on the market as a mid-level smartphone and to testify it is the processor. It is in fact one 430 GHz quad core Snapdragon 1,4 with Adreno 505 GPU, which guarantees performance perfectly in line with the product range, without bringing particular benefits to the user.

On the other hand, memory is more substantial, which it exploits 3 GB of RAM and well 32 GB of storage space, expandable via microSD.

Without infamy and without glory is also the software: Motorcycle G6 Play is indeed equipped with Android 8.0 Oreo, which manages to maintain the performance of the device in the norm and to which are added only the few contents signed by Motorola. A noteworthy example is the Motorcycle Display which, with the phone locked, allows you to read messages or see notifications in their entirety, so you can then decide whether to unlock the phone or not.

However, every detail takes second place in front of the battery, which is the real trump card of the device. The latter, thanks to its 4000 mAh, guarantees excellent autonomy, which means that not only will you be able to make it to the end of the day but that you can also enjoy a few hours of the next day before recharging the device. And if the use you make of the smartphone is mild enough, you shouldn't have problems covering almost 2 days.

A camera in line with the headband

Equally in line with what is expected from a device of this range are the cameras. In fact, the main one manages to guarantee, through its own 13 megapixel with f/2.0 and LED flash, shots of good quality, with quite vivid colors and good definition of the edges.

Discreet is also the front camera from 8 megapixel which, like the rear one, is equipped with an LED flash. Both allow you to create Full HD videos but, while those created with the rear camera can enjoy the benefits of electronic stabilization, those deriving from the front will not have the possibility.

Buy it or not buy it?

Summing up, the new Moto G6 Play signed Motorola looks like a perfect compromise between its affordable price - remember that the smartphone is available at the price of 199 € - and good performance.

On the other hand, however, no other aspect of the smartphone will allow you to jump for joy: Moto G6 Play it is, as mentioned above, a compromise, eager to satisfy the needs of those who want fluidity and convenience.
