Motorola One Vision review: mission accomplished?

Motorola One Vision review: mission accomplished?

Motorola One Vision arrived on the market with a mission: to take everything that was good in Motorola One and add a decidedly more aggressive photographic sector. All this without increasing the price. So let's find out in ours review whether this terminal has really managed to hit the target.

21: 9 format and hole on the display

Motorola One Vision abandons the form factor of its predecessor to adopt the 21:9. All in all, an appreciable choice because yes, you will have to get used to this aspect ratio a little, but in the end you will begin to appreciate its main advantage. The 21: 9 in fact allow the device to host a display from 6,3 inches while allowing you to grip it comfortably. The format then marries perfectly like the cinematic contents. Attention only to Instagram Stories: yours will be longer than normal while those of your friends will be displayed with a black bar at the bottom.

To be particularly appreciable is also the glass back cover, animated by beautiful lighting effects that set Motorola One Vision apart from the competition. Too bad it retains fingerprints a lot, a problem that you can get around using the silicone cover contained inside the package.

The profiles are rather classic: on the right we have the volume rocker and on / off button, while on the left you have the hybrid slot dedicated to SIM and microSD. So remember that to use two SIMs you will have to sacrifice memory expandability and vice versa. Finally, on the lower part we have the USB Type-C connector and the mono speaker, while the upper one contains the 3,5 mm jack.

Finally, we come to the display, with a resolution of 1080 x 2520 pixels. In general it behaves quite well: the colors are natural, the brightness is excellent and the visibility remains good even under the sun. On the other hand, it is less appreciable, however the hole located on the left. Generally I prefer it to the notch but the one proposed by Motorola is really too big and occasionally annoying.

Flawless performance

I know, in front of the Samsung's Exynos 9809 processor some of you will have turned up your nose. Yet the Korean CPU is perfectly integrated and in harmony with the rest of the hardware, hardware that includes 4 GB of RAM, the Mali-G72 GPU and 128 GB of internal memory. The smartphone is fluid and responsive in any situation, also thanks to Android 9.0 Pie in the stock version. Among other things, I remind you that Motorola One Vision adheres to the program Android One, which guarantees you three years of security patches and two years of operating system updates.

Absolutely good connectivity and discrete audio, with an average maximum volume and practically absent bass.

Not surprisingly, the 3500 mAh battery will still allow you to arrive in the evening without too many problems.

Does it really look that good in the dark?

Motorola One Vision comes with a dual front camera with a 48 megapixel sensor with aperture F / 1.7, equipped among other things with optical stabilization, a secondary 5 megapixel one which, as per tradition, deals with depth. On paper, therefore, we are faced with a very respectable combination but the result is not exactly what we expected.

This does not mean that Motorola One Vision is unable to return appreciable photographs. In reverse, shots in good lighting conditions are absolutely valid, but the results in the dark are certainly not comparable to those of a real cameraphone. There Night Vision mode it allows it to overcome much of the competition in the mid-range but is not particularly surprising, above all because it tends to cancel the edges making the image not very defined.

It is then impossible not to notice the autofocus problems, who occasionally struggles to do his job. Nothing that you cannot solve with a tap but this means losing a few seconds before being able to obtain the desired image.

Motorola One Vision: buy it or not?

A 299,99 € is definitely a good deal: Motorola One Vision is smooth, with a good battery, a convincing screen, and the usual excellent build quality.

However, there are a couple of elements that have not completely convinced me: the performance of the camera in low light conditions and the form factor. The first can certainly be improved, while the second is not for everyone. The 21: 9 in fact will annoy the fanatics of Instagram Stories but also those who play a lot on their smartphone.
