Sharp HT-SBW460 review: the soundbar with Dolby Atmos

Sharp HT-SBW460 was born with a clear goal: to guarantee a convincing acoustic experience at an affordable price. A declaration of intent that was already clear at the end of 2018, when the company had announced the product, and that seems even more convincing now, after spending almost a month in the company of this sound bar.

But let's go in order and start from the base: the design.

Sharp HT-SBW460 review: sleek and minimal

Only 7cm tall, Sharp's soundbar is easily placed in front of any TV. Not only for the small size but also for the minimal design and designed for blend into any environment.

However, this does not mean that it is anonymous. In reverse, Sharp HT-SBW460 is treated in every detail. The metal front grille, the Sharp and Dolby Atmos logos, the small LED display: everything is harmonious and elegant.

Even i buttons located on the right side of the product - designed for turning the soundbar on / off, switching sources, starting / stopping playback or adjusting the volume - are well designed despite being little used.

On the other hand, the left side of HT-SBW460 is free, while on the back we find all the connectivity we may need:

  • 2 x HDMI
  • 1 x HDMI ARC/CEC
  • 1 x optical input
  • 1 x Coaxial
  • 1 x jack da 3,5 mm
  • 1 x USB

Also on board Bluetooth 4.2, which you can exploit for connect the soundbar to a smartphone or tablet. What is it for? Simple: with a few clicks you can use Spotify, Tidal or any streaming application.

However, Sharp's system does not include a single element. In fact we also have available un subwoofer wireless which incorporates the same simple and elegant lines of the soundbar. The advantage? You can place it anywhere. In fact, you have no constraints related to any cables and not even the need to hide it. Aesthetics indeed is so essential that it is suitable for any type of furniture.

Sharp HT-SBW460 review: the soundbar with Dolby AtmosThe remote control completes the overview, which is why you can forget the buttons on the soundbar. To support it, thus making the management of HT-SBW460 quick, is the aforementioned front LED display. In fact, the latter offers a visual feedback of the operations carried out with the remote control. You can then see which source you have selected, control the volume, select EQ presets and activate Bluetooth. All this while remaining comfortably on the sofa.

Do you prefer to have only one remote control? No problem. Just connect the soundbar to your TV using the ARC-CEC HDMI. This will allow you to take advantage of your TV remote control instead of the dedicated one.

The installation? As simple as drinking a glass of water

The installation of Sharp HT-SBW460 is really elementary. The instructions (in Italian) included in the box will help you but don't expect complex steps. In the order you must:

  • connect the subwoofer to the mains
  • wait for the two to connect in total autonomy

In the worst case, you just have to press the “Pair” button on the back of the subwoofer.
