Whatsapp introduces the "Flash Call": here are the details on the new feature

Great news from Whatsapp: the well-known messaging app would be working to introduce Flash Call, a useful feature to help users access their accounts quickly. Further details were provided by the WhatsApp function tracker WABetaInfo, first spotted in version 2.21.11.7 of the app.

Through the Flash Call, WA will call the users' telephone number and then terminate it automatically, verifying that the last number in the register is the same as that given by the six-digit code. This way users can log in faster than the normal SMS verification process and should prove useful once multi-device support is introduced.

Flash Call, the new feature of WhatsApp

In order for the Flash Call to work properly, Whatsapp will ask users for permission to access the phone log and manage calls. In any case the app will not use the call history for other purposes and will only compare the last entry with the phone number making the call.

Finally, the Flash Call it will not be implemented on WhatsApp for iOS because Apple does not offer any public API to read call history. Additionally, this feature is optional, and users can continue to log into WhatsApp by confirming the 6-digit code received via SMS or call. This flash calling feature is under development and is not yet enabled in the beta.
